Assalam o alaikum! Imam Sahab, I have one question in my mind since many years.DO The Noble Prophet (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam used to read Durood in the Prayer (NAMAZ)?Being a muslim Alhamdulillah i know the Importance of Durood.I just want to know that the Noble Prophet (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam himself used to recite Durood or not. JAZAKALLAH

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu All Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa aalihi wa Sallam) Sending 'durud sharif' upon the Beloved Messenger Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam, is fard, as it is stated from the Qur'anic text. This is regardless of whether it is in salah, or not. There was no specific hadith from which it could be stated, that the Beloved Messenger Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam used to recite 'durud sharif' in salah, although there are numerous other supplications which He Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam did recite. This however, does not mean, nor does it give us the leeway, to doubt, criticise, or be unsure of, whether we should recite 'durud sharif' as well. Since the ummah is unanimous in reciting the 'durud sharif', then it becomes obligatory upon us to do so. Nor does it lessen the rank of sending the 'durud sharif', nor are we compelled by Qur'anic text, or by text from the hadith, that we should in salah. It could be that it carries more reward, or is greater in rank, and higher in status than other supplications, as you are asking from Allah the Almighty. However, since it is proven by the Qur'an that it should be sent, then we should not question as to whether it should be recited in salah or not. Jazak'Allah for your question. Wallahu A'lamu Biththawaab M. Waseem Ashrafi
