Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuWhich country are you from back home and what city and how often do you visit that country? I think it is vital to visit the country that your parent/ancestors come from so that you are aware of your roots/culture and background I was born and bred in the UK but my parents are from Pakistan we live(coincidence my parents and in laws yet we are not related) in a town called Gujarkhan which is an hours drive from the capital Islamabad. As most of my in laws and my sisters live in Pakistan we tend to go once a year especially for the sake of my children so that they also have a strong bond with their paternal grandparents and mashallah they do ;D So come on guys tell us where you are from back home and name the city/town/village ;D (surprisingly alot of friends don't know the city/town they are from ) Jazakallah khair

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuWere from Pakistan too, karachi to be exact. One should always keep ties with relatives and family back home and remember our roots for the sake of our kids.

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuI too was born and bred here. My parents are originally form india, from gujrat tankaria to be precise. But they did live in karachi before they moved to england ( i dont know how long for) in the early 60's so the mother tongue is urdu rather than gujrati at home, or both, or triple its english I should really say in my house. After moving to preston, I must say my urdu is improving by the day and so is my kids.

Assalaam Alaikum,
I just saw this thread. Did not realise it existed anyway, I was born in England same as my brothers and my parents too are from Pakistan- Kallar Seydan is where my father is from and Samote is where my mums family lives.
As a child i stayed in Pakistan for 7 months when my parents were building our own houses there. Absolutely loved it then but not so keen to go back for more than a month now.
Allah hafiz.
