ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam
Have you come across a belief some may say its cultural that babies, particularly newborns, can see angels, or that angels make them laugh or cry?
I have seen so many babies stare and really look above as if they are seeing something!! or one minute they are laughing and the next they are crying!. Have you noticed this or something similar?
Is there any reference from hadith's or the Quran? Can anyone shed some light into this.
JazakAllah

Yes I have noticed this with my 3 children, sometimes they used to cry for no apparent reason and the next they would be laughing or smiling, and my mother used to say thats the doing of Farishtey. I would be grateful if someone could supply references.

Yes its certainly possible, why not because a child is sweet and innocent. It would good to see if the christians or the yaHood agree with this.

yes babies can see the pious and angels from what i have been told.
Khalifa-e-mujaaz of Peer Aslam (rehmatullahi alay) Hazrat Sufi Muhammad Asghar Aslami Damat Barakatohum Aaliya once told us when carrying one of their mureeds kids (bout 4yrs old) that this child always comes to my mehfils and he has got the nigha (the look) of a bzurg n them bzurgs have passed away n they always go to see the kid at his house, but they said the kid is scared of them n always cries, so qibla sufi saab said i then asked the bzurg to jus do dua for the kid and not meet him. so sufi sb said that the bzurg stopped coming. then they went on saying that little kids at that age are paak and bzurgs and angels and jinns go to them and they can see them.

ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam I too have heard from elders when a baby sometimes is sleeping and then smiles or laughs, that the angles are making him play, and when the baby suddenly cries in its sleep that Shaitan is making it cry, but sadly have no references to this. Maybe you should ask the Imam sister Nomee. I do know that babies are more vulnerable to Shaitan so for this reason they have been sent more protection By Almighty Allah in the form of more Angels. We know of stories of the Blessed Prophets alayhis 'salam and the Pious Awliya seeing Angels and Jinns, and like the Jinn the Angels also can turn into whatever shape or form they wish, whether it be a form of a human or of another creation. Shaitan thinks of a newly born baby as an additional enemy. Invisible to the naked eye, Shaitan tries to take the child away and kill him/her using his jinn agents. Shaitan spies on his prey in much the same way in which an eagle spies on newly hatched chickens. To prevent Shaitan from taking the baby, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala sends 140 Angels to guard the newly born baby and protect it from Shaitan.

All Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam
Thank you for your question, but I thought you would have had a better Islamic issue than knowing whether it was the angels who made babies laugh or cry.
In relation to some narrations (riwayah), it is stated that the angels had accompanied, and had been in the presence of the Messenger when they were born. A classic example of this is, when the Beloved Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam was born, then in some narrations it has been said that Hadrat Gibrael alayhis 'salam had swung the cot, in which the Beloved Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam lay. But this does not apply to all babies.
In relation to crying, then it has been stated in a hadith that the devil pokes the babies side, which results in the crying of the baby, but this applies to all babies, and not the Prophetic babies.
May Allah the Almighty give us all the understanding between the differences of Prophets, and people.
Jazak'allah for your question.

This answers a lot of questions and clears up misunderstandings. So normal babies can not see Angels and jinns, but jinns do try to scare them by poking and proding them.

I thought some babies could see visions, or is it we do not understand babies.
