Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Is it true that the fries served at mcdonalds are not halaal? As I earlier read on this forum that mcdonals use haram flavourings of natural origins (meat &chicken).
So therefore the fillet_o_fish surely is not halaal as well? Please give feedback with evidence.

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
I used to be of a similar persuasion. Mcdonalds plc do not give disclosure as to what type of oil they fry their fries in. Therefore it is not safe to assume the fries would be halal.
There must be positive knowledge or conviction of the haram nature of an animal food or ingredient, or of its slaughtering process for that food or ingredient to be haram. Mere suspicion is enough for abstaining, from eating at or entering such places, but not enough for declaring it impermissible. And Allah knows best.

Allah Hafiz Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuI had a freind who worked at McDonanlds some years ago...he told me that they use the same oil to fry the chicken burger;the fillet-o-fish and the fries . At restaurants, fastfood places, etc they all pose a serious health threat to us and our children, and have a greater chance of obesity because of the general lack of exercise. So fastfood places + haram and unhealthy !! If you want fast food at home cook it yourself, boil, steam it etc its not as if we have lack of choice or variety in things we can eat.

Whats wrong with muslims owning halal food services and providing employment and an alternative but halal service ? So when your hungry and away from home i take it you have never had a take away.

I would just like to thank everyone on this forum that has taken time to reply to my query. Mash-allah in such a short space of time, i have gathered such valuable information. I will avoid fast food restaurants from now until I am sure that the products that they are selling are halaal.

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuPersonally i dont think having halal takeaways are harmful as long as it is very occasional .. all good things in moderation.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu(Plz forgive me for this late reply of mine, but I had to reply because I read this thread and I had the knowlegde and I have time so I had to react) Personally I never ate at Macdonald's but when I saw Muslims eating there (French Fries) I started eating there too. But now I don't there again because Alhamdulillah Allah has let me know better... Firstly I want to say that the ingredients Macdonald's uses differ in origin from country to country, from season to season... Furthermore I can say the following with 99% certaincy: 1) French Fries: HARAAM!!. Then I shall say the reason why; This is my strongest proof: The ingredients of French Fries: "Potatoes, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, natural flavor (beef, wheat and dairy sources), dextrose, sodium acid pyrophosphate (to preserve natural color). Cooked in partially hydrogenated vegetable oils (may contain partially hydrogenated soybean oil and/or partially hydrogenated corn oil and/or partially hydrogenated canola oil and/or cottonseed oil and/or sunflower oil and/or corn oil). Contains derivatives of wheat and dairy." I had covered this in another thread a long time ago but I'll say it again; I think many underestimate the ingredient 'Natural flavor'. They read ''Natural' and immediately think of plants... WRONG!! Natural can obviously mean 'from animal origin.' Just look and see what is stated in the above list. French fries thus isn't just potatoes baked in 100% plant based oil and a little salt. It is true that French Fries are baked in 100% oil from plant origin... but it is also true that BEEF flavor is added to these same French Fries are. So why BEEF? Very simple... the unique taste it gives... Furthermore a little history of French Fries: French Fries in 7% cottonseed oil en 92 beef fat in earlier times. In 1990 Macdonald's switched to 100% plant-based oil because of the many heart diseased the customers got but the unique taste of the beef fat was gone... so how did Macdonald's solve this problem? Macdonald's kept on baking in 100% plant-based oil but beef extract was added to the fries before baking these fries. That's why these fries still have that unique taste.Fish filet's... oh don't eat it... why? See for yourselves on the website of the Macdonald's (USA). It won't differ much from the ones in the UK I think: www.mcdonalds.com/app_controller.nutrition.categories.ingredients.index.htmlOke wassalamu 'alaikoem...

Very interesting. My question now is what about the Macdonald outlets in Muslim Countries., say Pakistan and Saudi for example. The are run and staffed by muslims, are they blind to the facts or do they use local stock?
Anyone visited a Macdonalds abroad and experienced this 'unique taste'?
