Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhuis number 1 bad (as in the lowest) or good (as in number 1) On a scale from 1 to 10 ( 1= very bad & 10= perfect) what mark do you think you deserve as a Muslim-rolemodel for the outer world (i.e your colleagues,fellow students,neighbours,family,etc) Wassalamu 'alaykum
@ WSohail... I like how you have worded is brother WSohail Wassalamu 'alaykum

Subhaanallah! Jazaak Allah Brother Harith for this thread which is a test of honesty towards ourselves. Well, to be honest with myself, I don't see me as a role model but as someone who tries to act upon his words as and when given the tawfeeq to do so. It's a tug of war between me and my nafs - when I cling to goodness I succeed and when I am negligent I shamefully fail . On one side it is the rise and fall of the imaan and on the other side it is the rise and fall of the nafs. Had we been perfect we would not have benefitted the pleasure of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta'alaa through "Tawbah" which can be qualified as the hen which lays golden eggs. Allahumma Salle Alaa Sayyidinah Wa Mawlaanah Muhammadanin Nooril Anwari Wa Sirril Asraari Wa Sayyadil Abraar.
Astaghfirullah Rabbi Min Kulli Zambinw Wa'atubu Ilay Innaka Antat Tawwaabur RahimTo be read 21 times daily before going to sleep. It greatly helps to combat the nafs. This is guaranteed by Sayyad Mahmood Ashraf Ashrafi Al Jilaani.Yaa Sayyadi Yaa Sayyad Mahmood Al Madad.Allahumma Salle Alaa Sayyidinah Wa Mawlaanah Muhammadanin Nooril Anwari Wa Sirril Asraari Wa Sayyadil Abraar.

Revolver your evidence of bad language had to be deleted we have youngsters on the forum as well as guests we do not want them to get the wrong impressions about this forum that we tolerate this sort of language.
To some using this sort of language may be figure of speech to others it may be seen as offensive.

I think its very difficult for any young person to be a good role model, our parents and sheikhs are the best example today.

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu, I feel I have a lot of improvements to make before I can consider myself as a role-model. Although I do try to be a practicing Muslim, I don't think I try hard enough. A good poll. Helps you reflect and improve.

who is a good role model for us ? A good role model could be your pir o murshid, if he is strict in following shariah, then some one like Hazrat Shaykh-ul-Islam Syed Madni Ashrafia I also agree with you

Bottom of my heart I don't feel that applicable for voting but needleless I like to put a few points down, I cannot see me on the scale if it was in the negative then maybe.
The way I see it is that If I did mistakes that is with full intentions it means that I’m not 100% with Islam (as whole), But if I see myself decreasing the negative thoughts and negative actions I say that I am slowing moving to the right path.
What I think that is if anyone believes he got close to 40%-50% means (technically speaking in mathematical terms 40% a day would mean that 9.6 hours within 24 hours period, you haven’t made a mistake [Major Mistakes] that would be an accomplishment);
So basically what I am trying to say it’s okay to give yourself a mark 1-10 (there’s no harm in it) but remember that you have to get better than before. I believe personally believe that if I manage to get 1% of not making mistakes and just plain and simple good. I would think that I done exceptional.
I believe that there are people how had 100% and quite outspokenly it’s my beloved Muhammad Mustafa (PBUH) which I believe that everyone would agree upon.

well you have to be good role models for your neephew and neices also, you might not realise that you ar being a good role model, by not swearing not talkjng things that dont concern you, talkjng with respect for we tend to forget all these are islamic teachings of the prophet. for none muslims you could be good rolemodel by protraying the character of the prophet. i myself do not have a beard which i see as the biggest defect in me at the momnet but inshallah in near future i will keep one, but lets face it if u dont have beard you are not islamic you are not practicing you dont prayer you know the rest of the scriptm i am saying this because i am studying seen and i dont have a beard at the moment and people start accusing me of not being a good muslim. alhamdullilah its good they tell me to keep beard but to just judge me by that it is not good and i hate it.
