I think Hazrat Sahib have covered this topic in their speeches many times or in one of the early ones from what I can remember. I think they may have used the example of the cover of the Qur'an Sharif and more. PLACING OF GHILAF ON THE GRAVE 1. Ghilaf or Chadar (cloth) is placed on the grave of a Wali or pious Muslim for the benefit of the visitors so that they may understand and realise the status of the deceased Muslim.
2. It is allowed to put on a Ghilaf on the graves of Awliya and Ulema when it is recognised that the majority respect the person in the grave. People are also aware of the holy person's status and gain auspiciousness from the holy person who is resting in the grave.
3. In the famous book, "Raddul Mukhtaar", it is stated: "It is permissible to place a cloth on the Qabar of a Wali or pious Muslim so that visitors be more respectful when visiting the grave. We should also realise that the basis of action is upon the intention".
Taken from the section towards the end here: www.islam786.org/links.htmAlso mentions placing flowers. jazakallah for that sister farah i have pmed shah saab to shed a bit more light on this matter
Masha-Allah sister Farah has put it beautifully.
But there are always to realm's Zahiri and Batini , Sister has given daleel for Zahiri Insha-Allah i will share the Batini Realm's after Chatti Shareef.
I will just share a important point as i am short of time but Insha-Allah will dIscuss in detail later.
When you enter the mazaar and the chaadar is placed on the grave, then learn this lesson, that as you put on external clothing, the Waliullah put on one more garb. The garbs that we should all wear, the libaas at taqwa according to the Holy Qur'aan. You have to put on the Clothing Of Taqwa and Allah consciousness, for that is the garb of the Waliullah. His external garb was something else, but his internal had been fragranced with the Clothing Of Taqwa (libaas at taqwa).

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
JAZZALAHU ANNA SAYYEDINA MUHAMMADAN MA HUWA AHLAHU
MANAM SAGHE DARBARE JILANI
I just cant stop myself from just duscussing one more point , Many people want to have daleel for burning fragrance stick & lobaan in dargah and house during niyaz and fateha.
This act give us three important lesson.
1. For a person who merely comes to the mazaar for dua, to ask through the means (wasila) of the Waliullah, that Allah may accept his dua, the fragrant stick is giving you a message, that no dua of yours will reach Allah, until and unless you do it with a burning heart.
Allah (Almighty and Glorious is He) says in the Holy Qur'aan, in the 27th Sura, an-Naml: Verse 62;
Or, who listens to the (burning soul) distressed when it calls on Him, and who relieves its suffering, … besides Allah
So for an ordinary visitor, take a lesson that until your heart is not burning and restless your dua will not be effective.
2. For a Traveler On The Path To Allah (Saalik) the burning stick gives lessons that until you are not prepared to endure pain, live and sacrifice for the benefit of other people, you will not achieve success.
Tariqat bajuz khidmate khalq nehst Ba tasbih o sajada o darq nehst
Tariqat is naught but service to creation It is not a rosary, prayer mat and dress.
3. The third lesson is, that as you are present at The Station Of A Beloved One Of Allah (maqaam) and seeing the fragrant stick burn, learn what is ‘annihilation in Almighty Allah’ (fana fillah). If you ask the fragrant stick as to what it symbolizes, it will tell you, ‘I am the heart of the lover of Almighty Allah, whose cold sigh reaches the heavens. And when I sigh in the love of Allah, I perfume the entire surroundings.
Samajh le ke heh ilm nukhte keh andar
Yeh raze khafi heh chupane keh kaabil
JazakAllahu Khayrun

As-salaamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu As-salaatu wasalaamu alaika Yaa Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam Subhan Allah. Jazak Allah Khair for sharing this, Shah Sahib. "Kisi gham zada nay jo Khawaja Piya ko tarap kar bulaya Savairey Savairey, Khazana (Sayyidinna) Muhammad(sallallahu alaihi wasallam)ka hathon mein layka wahein unko paya Savairey Savairey.
When a grief-stricken person tremulously called on Beloved Khwaja in the morning, the very early morn. In his hands he found the Treasury of (Sayyidinna) Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), in the morning, the very early morn." (Haji Ghulam Farid Sabri)

I think Hazrat Sayyid Noorani Mian recited some verses mentioning Khwaja Gharib Nawaz Rahmatullahi ’alayh at the Shaane Awliya Conference. It keeps coming to mind but I won't try writing it here incase I make a mistake. It was beautiful, masha Allah.

This gate too is situated on the western side of the Shrine adjacent to the tomb of Gaiti Ara. The doors of the gate are covered with silver metal. It is opened only four times during the year, viz twice on ids (for one day) during the annual Urs (for six days) and on the 6th of Shawwal, the Urs of Khwaja Saheb's Pir.
