Is it true that norton anti virus slows down your computer if you have it installed

Is it true that norton anti virus slows down your computer if you have it installed I use Norton and i haven't experiernced my pc slowing because of it. Are you sure it's not something else running in the background slowing your pc down?

it does slow ur machine down. but you may also have alot of services running on ur machine. if u go to start > run and type in msconfig and hut return u get a pop up box go to the tab that says "Start Up" and check how many boxes are selected. dont untick any for now because some of them you NEED running.

Norton does take up to 40% of your resources but symantec's website can advise you of what services to disable to enable better responses from your pc. This includes systems with dual core processors which also slow down.
Sometimes a simple reinstallation of the software can eradicate this problem.
