Dozens of people are believed to have been injured. The stampede started when a girl fell down as she came out of an Islamic centre, police officer Zahid Hussain was quoted as saying. He said thousands of women were at the centre to mark the Prophet Muhammad's (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) birthday, which falls on Tuesday. Any more news ..nothing on the news so far, what time did this exactly happen ?
How can this happen and is allowed to happen to women and children ? I think its time more controls were made at these big gatherings, lessons must be learnt !

This is a great tragedy, i truly hope that all the organisers look seriously at the infrastructure of such big events. So many children have lost their mothers, and many husbands have lost wifes, as the event was for Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
Insha-Allah they had just prayed durood sharif on Huzoor (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) and lets hope Rasoolallah (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) will intercede for them.

May Allah give sabr to the families and grant jannat al firdos to the shaheed.
I believe there was 10,000 women at this programme. Which means it must have been an open air gathering which puzzles me as how a stampede could have occurred ? If there are so many people then surely they would have had more than one exit, in an open area ...

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuMaybe this news report will answer your questions Simnani ... Incidentally Faizan-e-Madina is the Karachi HQ for Dawat-e-Islami ! Fewer exit points in the building caused stampedeKARACHI, April 09 (inp): Kin of the women and children who lost their lives and injured in the tragic stampede incident occurred Sunday at Faizan-e-Madina, said that the incident could have been averted had all the exit point of the building kept open. Expressing their resentment over the tragic incident they said it occurred when a mob of the women and children made their way out through few exit points, as most of them were closed. Congregation of women at Faizan-e-Madina is the every Sunday’s feature, but a remarkable number of women stated to be around 50,000 attended today’s Milad which held on the occasion of Rabi-ul-Awwal. The incident occurred when a girl slipped on the stairs near the exit point and her mother bent down to catch her, caused stampede as a huge crowd of the women and children were on their way, going out of the building, said Zarina Bibi, a participant of the congregation. She also reported to have heard a rumour about bomb blast on the occasion.?

it is very sad news. but i would like to ask is it necessary or needful from a shariat point of view for women to attend a march. it would be better for them to sit at home and hold functions amongst family and friends. can ladies come to the streets and start commemorating islamic functions openly?

I dont think it was a jaloos brother, it was a big mehfil purely for women. And from the shariah point of view it is perfectly permissible for women to attend Milad functions or visit the mosque, providing their are separate entrances for men and women and full purdah is observed. What is not jaiz is the free mixing between the sexes.

inalilahi waina ilaihi raghiun
this is a big problem in our communities, the controlled organisation of the masses.
what if a fire breaks out in one of these gatherings, or even inside a tent, we just dont have a proper regard for health and safety its all about how many we can cram in. hope lessons are learned.

Theres always a risk of soemthing happenning when you have very large crowds, lets not be to harsh on the organisers of the milad. Humans are humans after all no matter how much safety and security you have at these events.

Lessons should be learnt.
On the birth of Muhammed (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa'aalehi wa Sallam), Allah blessed every pregnant women with a son so that no one would commit the atrocity of burying a live girl! Yet we let stuff like this happen on the Prophets (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa'aalehi wa Sallam) milad!!!

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,
Inna Lillahi wa ina ilayhi Raji'oon
This really is a shame, but I guess this was meant to happen - it was Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala)'s will. Those killed had just attended a mawlid to celebrate the birth of Allah's Most Beloved, so inshallah, they will be granted with the intercession of the Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam).
My thoughts go out to the families who have lost loved ones. May Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) grant them sabr.
