Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
dear imam sahib my husband read once in a kitaab that after doing wudu if your knee is seen by anybody that it will break the wudu. is this true? are you aware of such a matter? the kitaab said that it's the same whether you are male or female. now i know that from belly button to knee is satar for men but i'm not sure what area's of the body constitute as satar for women regarding the breaking of wudu. does this include the arms of women above say the elbows?
please could you clarify.
Jazakallah for taking the time to answer this guneghar's question.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam It is true that the satr is regarded as that place which should be covered, and applies both to men and women. That place starts from the navel to the knee. If this is exposed to anybody then it is true that it breaks your wudu'. You should try to ensure that this remains covered, if wudu' is to be made valid. However, this does not apply to the elbow, as this is not part of that which should be covered. Your wudu' will not break if this is seen. Jazak'allah for your question. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
