Domestic violence especially physical abuse happens in all cultures and religions, and it is not necessarily the women that get abused some men are also abused by their partners

Islam is against any kind of abuse but many Muslim women and men are also victims of physical abuse.

This poll is to get feedback and your thoughts on how you see people that carry this act out which can not only scar the body but the mind and the heart.

I selected other as I think these people lack patience and/or education. It can also be a combination of things that are above and in some cases it is down to being some of those.

I do think it's disgracful to harm another person, partner or otherwise unless in defence of course, and I know some men are abused by their wives as they're passive and don't want to cause confrontation so it's not just the women that are abused as already pointed out

i think it's a way for the person to show domination and that they're the boss. also it is usually a lack of education or the way they were brought up as in it could have been part and parcel of growing up and it's just the norm for them. they may not think they're doing anything wrong.

also i have to say that they are cowards that they have to resort to violence to sort out problems and aren't able to use their head

I voted for cowards and want to show power and domination.

It is a sad scenario when there is domestic violence in a marriage, the kids are affected and lose faith and confidence in the abusing parent!

The person that has suffered abuse should make a stand and inform someone, because I have a friend who kept it quiet and her husband thought I can beat her and she will take it and no one will know about it, until his beatings landed her in hospital, she needed counselling and he has anger management Al hamdulillah they are still together and get on better than before .

I think a lot of men if not most are control freaks, if only they tried to understand Islam, what it does teach about women, and how to treat them.

I think there is so much more Domestic violence these days however i think that this issue always existed, except that women stayed quite because they did not want to be divorced and this all affects the children in the long term. Then neither parent can control them.

I have voted for: Want to show power and domination

When I was a child I didn't understand how a woman could ever want to marry a man who hits and abuses her. But as I grew older I realized that before marriage things are different; after marriage things can change drastically. Alhamdulillah nowadays there are organizations who help and more important women are stronger in the sense that they (may it come to non-stop abuse or a divorce after many attempts to save the marriage) are financially stable and thus can provide shelter and food for their own and the kids. Education and study is important indeed.

I must say I have immense respect for women. I haven't come across any lazy woman in my life. On the contrary, I know them as hard working houswives who always try to work on their relationship. I'm a man myself but I think the husbands are the ones who need a little violence push to move away from their laziness...

1. they want to take control of everything
