Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam
Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Because several members requested to have a similar Muslim role model poll, we erected this one.
Looking back a year from now have you improved in your deen? Please note that this does not only consist of reading the 5 daily prayers but also of your attitude towards others, the food you consume, etc.
(Results will only be visible once voted)
Wassalamu 'alaykum

A very good Poll.
I will be honest but i think i have learnt more about Islam from the internet and by reading books than i have at my local masjid. What does that say?
Anyway it isnt criticism, but the amount of good websites online with good information and with references is growing all the time, alhamdolilah, so theirs no excuses frm anyone on that score. So yes, lets keep on improving year on year.

If you have improved in the deen then you should also have improved as a person. A person who prays 5 x salat is less likely to sin, so strength comes to those who seek and pray.
a good topic.

Assalam aleikum wa rahmullahi wa baraktu
great post
I will be honest, but I think that I have learned more about Islam from Islam forum 786 \ reading any books than my parents, because they believe that education is most important than Islam .. I have to hide islamic books .. West Muslims behave differently than Muslim in the Muslim countries, the reason is that parents do not learn their children about Islam, for example. the islamic priniccipper .. if I ask why you fasts than she says that my parents fasts then I will ”roza)

Alhamdollilah i have improved since last year as early last year i don't think i was praying namaaz or reciting that much durood.
i still have a long way to go and have to learn to control my temper, but i don't like hearing what so and so did and all that. must refrain from back biting as you don't realise your doing it we are that used to talking about each other.
love this website as it has answered so many questions that were floating around and someday i will get the chance to ask all the ones that are still un-answered.
never used to say Jazakallah, now i say it frequently and have learnt many dua's in the past year and am stilll learning as are my children.

I think the biggest improvement and achievement would be not giving up and trying to carry on practicing our religion

for me this is a very tough question. I always see my self with shame there is always vast room for improvement. As for in comparison to last year this is what I find so difficult. Allahu wa Raullahu 'alam. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala and His Messenger Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam know best. Who am I to judge.. I may have spent by entire days and nights in worship but I have to ask myself 'Am I 100 % satisfied? Did I give my worship and submission total and true commitment! In between all this did I fulfill my duties to my parents? My children? My wife? My family, relations, neighbours? With my human relations spites How will my creator judge my Ibadah? Is it not a hadith that Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala throws the ibadah/salah back in the face of the worshipper who has hurt/displeased his/her mother.
I can't say I have improved nor can I say I have weakened.

ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam A very good poll and great replies by all especially brother Khadim SI whom I can relate to. I might think yes I have improved slightly which by the way is the option I clicked but have I improved in the eyes of my creator Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. Have I even reached that standard where my prayers and worship is even accepted yet? I dont think I have?

Very intresting poll by all forum members, may be i would not be able to justify my answer to this question coz the first thought i get in my mind when ever or where ever i go i.e "is it permissable for me?" so in such a way i do everything relating to the HOUSE OF TRUTH and so i feel worth of all for my existence.
Looking at other end i am sure that i'll not be able to compare or will dare to compare my improvement to the Great standards of HOUSE OF TRUTH, however even if i compare myself i may stand 2% of 100% for sure.

The question is what are we doing with our new found knowledge, are we acting upon it. Are we making good use of it, and more importantly are we sharing it?
The other question is, who knows that we have 'improved', how does one measure this?
