ASSALAMO ALAIKUM
I need a clarification regarding a matter on which i have heard different version on a TV program :
1/ some people say that you cannot marry a person with whom you went out with . and if you do so your nikkah is not valid
2 / some other people say even if it is not allowed in islam to have a boyfriend/girlfriend relation , but if you marry the person whom you went out with, it is correct and you nikkah is valid .
Can you pls explain which version is right ?
What can be done if for example, a couple is married and have children now, but in the past, before their marriage they went out with each other for 3 years (only with each other), what can be done in that case? Is their marriage valid ? (They have repented for what they did )
thank you for your help
Jazzak Allah

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam Its a good thing they got married, since they repented from the sin that they did. It could have gone from bad to worst. Remember that nikah is a sunnah in Islam, and there is no such thing as a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. There is no sex before marriage, and there is no seeing one another, only in the very few cases, where you need to speak to someone. For example, work, in a shop, or when you are asking the way etc. Jazak'allah for your question. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
