Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
After reading the other thread about the live mehfil on Qtv, and the adulation their is with the naat reciters and after seeing members of the live mehfil crowd holding posters of al Haj Owais Raza Qadri sahib, what does everyone think of them.
People are travelling hundreds of miles sometimes, giving up half a days work to listen to the live naats. Then their is the controversial money throwing, where is this going to end.

Short answer, is yes in the eyes of some people.
But lets not forget what they do and why they do it. They recite some top quality nat for our benefit and instill ishq-e-Rasul Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam in our hearts. Without them theres not knowing how many people would have drifted away from Ahle Sunnat, so theres a lot to be thankful for. There will always be some unsavoury elements and baggage like their is with most things today.

Yes anyone that is famous, is a muslim celebrity. We are still attracted to them because of who they are and what they do.
If you have a local naat khwan who prays the same naat as say the one on cd, or the one on qtv your bound to prefer the one from qtv because you automatically assume he is better. Which is not true.

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuI think celebrities is the wrong word to use here. You are talking about muslims who have a specific role, which has got them famous and popular due to tv and their performances. Celebrities are non muslims who have reached fame and wealth due to the dunya, so how can you compare the two ?

They have like sequinned and embroidered designs on their tops as well. Whats worse sometimes when they appear on Qtv they have a label which says ''wardrobe by ..so and so ...'' I feel embarrased watching them.

I remember once reading an interview by Owais Qadri saying he hardly buys clothes as they are given to him by well wishers. But I agree to some extent that some clothing material is more suitable for women

Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhuyes i undertsand what you mean br Muhammad Sadiq, going back to the question I dont mind them being celebrities or even role models for the youth. I would rather see youngsters spending money to gather at the mehfils of these celebrities instead of going to concerts of kufr singers. These are the people who enlighten us with their inspirational lyrics, imagine a world without naat khwans such Owais Qadri, Qari Javed,Fasiuddin Sorwardi etc.

But i wouldnt put Qari Javed in the same class as Sayed Fashiuddin Soharwardi, he is the eminent naat reciter of our times.

The nat khawans receive more attention and praise than our ulema, that is the problem today. Solution as someone mentioned in another thread is let the nat khwans do takrir and the ulema prat nat instead.

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu I think that most of the N att Khawan do it through love of the deen and dont force people to throw their money but lets not forget they need to earn a living too

Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuHow do we know they don't give money to the Masjid Brother? As a revert and somebody who doesn't understand Urdu the lyrics of Naats are lost on me. But still when I listen to them I get a feeling in my heart. If you listen to a really nice Naat you can't help but feel moved, it's as if it's the feeling and love the the Naat Khawan has for The Beloved Messenger Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam which is being transmitted to the audience. And if listening to these naats increases our love then it has to be good. I do however find the flashiness of some of the Naat Mehfils I've seen and the money throwing a little unnerving to be honest. But it's not up to me to question a persons intention. Still I guess there are those people who are only in it for fame and fortune, sadly I feel this is inevitable Fi amanillah

Brother Sajjad Ashrafi is right all the nat khwans are ashiqerasul, you can tell by the passion they show and the nats they choose.
Why should they give the money back to the audience or masjid if they have just given it to him, hasnt he just filled their hearts with love ?
It is upto to the individual nat khawan if he does besides they have families to feed as well.

I totally disagree with the brother saying that the imam should refuse money because it take some of them years to get where they are and like mentioned before they dont force anyone and people give it through love,

Subhanallah good point maybe it is these people to blame who throw the money. I have noticed most people hide and give money or put it near the feet but a minority throw it to get attention and spoil it for everyone else
