Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa SallamMajority of Mosques are built in the heart of the Muslim Communities and are easily accessible. Some Mosques are being renovated to meet the needs of the congregations. MashAllah our Local Mosque can cater upto 3000 people and it has vast uses. As well as jamaat, jumma prayers, funeral prayers, religious festivals, the mosque has facilities such as a Libaray (not functional yet), private school/nursery operational in March, we have Morturay area, ghusal for the deceased area, funeral room where guests can come to pay respect, study rooms for evening lectures for Brothers and sisters, Arabic lessons for the children and Sunday Islamic school for children. Does your local mosque meet your needs? Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
A good thread sister Nomee recently (well last year to be precise) my local masjid brought the house next door a hindu used to live there the masjid had been trying for along time convincing him to sell. Once they have "knocked through" InshAllah the masjid will be able to offer facilities.
At the moment the masjid has decent facilities including a large hall upstairs to seat people our masjid cant cater for people in the 1000's but it can cater for people in the 100's. We have our kitchen which helps prepare langar ;D.
If i could change things I would try to arrange programmes for sisters on the weekends so that they could benefit from the masjid too.
I can never be disatisfied with a masjid, its a shame when people get involved in the running of masjids who have little knowledge on religious affairs and are only after power within the community.

Sister Nomee, I aint a regular attender at any one particular masjid, I just pop in to all of them with whatever function is going! Praying namaz is also where ever I am, which ever proper masjid is the closest! But yes mainly the masjid when going from home or to juma prayers is Randal Masjid which was when I was a kid, and now is again!
They do all what you have listed, and now extra tuition for year 9 children, they have got all computers in one of the not used buildings opposite, and they help ethnic minority children who are not working as hard! Also they do have a little book section, some of us might call it a library but not really (you have to read it there).

Brother Sajjad YOU should not talk about stuff you dont know, I am talking on a long term period from a wider perspective, without being biased or narrowminded!
Excuse me brothers sorry to interrupt your brotherly conversations please keep it nice and civil
Have either of you tried talking to the Mosque Committee about any of the development plans, as a congragation member who gives donations surely you have the right to know how and where the money is being spent on?

Our local mosque has loads of facilities........for pakistanis!! Well that is so wrong, any chance of the other communities making a stand and getting the message across that a Mosque is Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala house and is for all regardless of race, culture and back ground? We also faced similar problems in our mosque the older generation (lack of English skills) wanted overall authority and the mosque developments plans went no where, Al hamdulilah the younger generation have got involved and the Mosque is one of the best in the region Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Bro just to talk to the committee i'd need a translator!!! I only go to mosque now on jumah and maybe when Shaikh Yaqoobi speaks. Its a sad fact throughout most sunni mosques. I have encountered similar problems trying to get our masjids more flexible and approachable but these committees are set in their ways. We just have to keep persevering and inshallah things will improve with time. Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam
Brother Chishti try to be involved as much as possible in the Masjid and believe me it could take 1 yr, 5 yrs or even longer but the comittee will come to its senses
Our local Masjid is now one of the best masjids in lancashire (Raza Masjid on Randal St) Alhumdolillah! It has had all its ups, and downs, we never ever gave up and put up with a lot of stick but now after a long time of trying it has improved and Inshallah will carry on improving. It has more facilities then probably any other sunni masjid in the Blackburn!
But if we gave up then it would have probably stayed the same and maybe the najdis would have wormed their way in, so brother talk to other brothers there and make a effort in the Masjid!
