As-Salaam alaikum, In the Holy Qur'an we find it where Allahu Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says:--
"Truly, We distinguished them with a distinct quality- remembrance of the [final] abode" (Saad- 38:46)
In this ayat, the words 'akhlasnahum' (We distinguished them)- and 'khalisatin' ( a distinct quality)- both come from the same root in arabic "KH-LA-SA". So, what is this distinct quality? It has to be IKHLAS (Sincerity); their Ikhlas set them apart and made them free from all other ties.
This word.. this concept comes from the Arabic root 'khalasa'... meaning to be pure, unadulterated, and unmixed. Sincerity is a way of purification. It defines the Station of loyalty, devotion, freedom and redemption... it depicts the essence of love and faith as Allah Ta'ala tells us [again] in the Holy Qur'an:--
"For those who turn back [to Allah], correct themselves, hold fast to Allah, and are sincere in their deen for Allah- [such as] those are with the secure believers. And in time, Allah shall give the believers an immense reward." (Nisa'i-4:146)
In the Hadith, the Prophet, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said:--
"Certainly, there is a reality of every truth, and a servant cannot reach the reality of Ikhlas, unless he doesn't like people to praise him for the actions he has done (only) for the sake of Allah." (Al-Majlisi, Bihar al-Anwar, Hadith No. 51).
