Sayyidah Juwairiyah (Radi Allahu anha)
The father of Sayyidah Jawairiyah (Radi Allahu anha), Harith Bin Abi Zarrar, was the leader of his tribe, Banu Mustalaq.
The Quraish incited him to attack Madinat ul Munawarah.
On the 2nd of Sha'ban, 5th Hijri the Noble Prophet (Sallall Allahu ta'ala Alaihi wasallam) set off to wards Banu Mustlaq.
At hearing this Harith flew leaving his tribe to face the battle.
11 people were killed in this battle and 600 captured. Among the 11 killed was Musafeh Bin Safwan, the Husband of Sayyidah Jawairiyah (Radi Allahu anha).
Among the 600 captured Sayyidah Juwairiyah (Radi Allahu anha), who was given to Sayidonaa Thabit bin Qais bin shamas Ansari (Radi Allahu anho).
She, being the daughter of a chief, could not live the life of a servant and therefore asked Sayyidonaa Thabit bin Qais (Radi Allahu anho) to release her for money.
Sayyidona Thabit bin Qais (Radi Allahu anho) released her for a substantial quantity of gold.
Sayyidah Juwairaiyah (Radi Allahu anha) appeared before the Beloved Prophet (Salall Allahu ta'ala Alaihi wasallam) and said:
"Oh Prophet of Allah, I am in need of help. I want to be free, help me!"
The Beloved Prophet (Salall Allahu ta'ala Alaihi wasallam) said:
"How would it be if I was to order you free and then wed you"?
Sayyidah Jawairiyah (Radi Allahu anha), accepted this proposal without any hesitation and so married the Beloved Prophet (Sallall Allahu ta'ala Alaihi wasallam).
When the companions heard of this wedding as a sign of respect to Sayyidah Juwairiyah (Radi Allahu anha) they freed all the captives of Banu Mustlaq.
Her original name was Mubarrah, before she accepted the call to Islam and married the Prophet Muhammad (Sallall Allahu ta'ala Alaihi wasallam) In the Month of Sha'ban in 5th hijera.
When Harith found out that his daughter had been captured, he set off to free her in return for a huge consignment of goods. On the way to Madinah, he hid two of his better and prised camels
. At appearing before the Beloved Prophet (Sallall Allahu Ta'ala Alaihi wasallam), he presented all the wealth that he carried with him and said:
" Please accept all this in return for my daughter."
The Beloved Prophet (Sallall Allahu Ta'ala Alaihi wasallam) said:
" What about the two camels that you hid, where are they?"
Harith Bin Abi Zarar was taken by utter surprise.
He kissed the feet of the Beloved Prophet (Sallall Allahu ta'ala Alaihi wasallam)and accepted his call to Islam.
He was very pleased to hear that his daughter was taken as the wife of the Beloved Prophet (Sallall Allahu ta'ala Alaihi wasallam) instead of becoming a servant.
Sayyidah Juwairiyah (Radi Allahu anha), was always in prayer.
Whenever the Beloved Prophet (Sallall Allahu Ta'ala Alaihi wasallam) came home he would find her in worship.
Sayyidah Juwairiyah (Radi Allahu anha), also participated in the battle of Yermook.
Sayyidha Juwairiyah (Radi Allahu anha), at the age of 65 passed away in 50 Hejra, during the caliphate of Ameer-e-Movia (Radi Allahu anha).
She was laid to rest in Jannat ul Baqi in Medina.
