Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH
We the sisters would like some clarification on what to do with hair (after combing) and nail clippings?? Some of us are taught to bury them rather than binning them.
Can you kindly shed some light on this matter please.
Jazakallah Khair

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa SallamJazak'allah for your question. It is good practice in Islam to gather the nail clippings, hair of the body, and the left over stub from a miswak, and to bury these, not necessarily in the same place, but separately. Other objects for burial that can be thought of obviously is the burial of a dead person ( mayyat), and also the deteriorated parts of the 'Arabic alphabet, or wordings which also includes the Qur'an al kareem, when it becomes ' shaheed'. These 'growths' are parts of the body which grow naturally, unlike other parts of the body for example - dead skin. However, it must be remembered, that a 'good practice' should never be confused with something which is ' fard' or ' wajib'. Practices should only be acted upon once you know in detail, that a particular action is sunnah, or wajib. Until then, it may remain a mystery as to why people perform such an action, although it may not be any of what has been mentioned. May Allah the Almighty help us to become as more cautious as we can, when dealing with hygiene, or any other cause.Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
