Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Dear Imam, would like to ask if Shaykh Abdul Haq Muhaddith Dehlwi (Rehmatullahi ’Alaih) was related in anyway to the deviant Molvi Ismail Dehlwi through blood lines?

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam)Jazak'Allah for your question. As far as I know Shaykh 'Abd-al-Haqq Muhaddith Dehlawi (Rehmatullahi Alaih), was not in any way related to the Mawlvi Isma'il Dehlavi. However, I did manage to find out the following: Isma'il, Shah, Born 29th April 1779, died 6th May 1831, the friend of Sayyad Ahmad Barelvi, and the grandson of Shah Wali Ullah. He was the nephew of Shah 'Abd al 'Aziz, Shah Rafi' Uddin and Shah 'Abd al Qadir. He was the son of Shah 'Abd al Ghani. His mother's name was Fatimah, who was the daughter of Mawlvi Ala'uddin etc. (Shahkaar Islamic encyclopedia, Syed Qaim Mahmud, page 215) There is no mention of Isma'il Dehlavi, being any relative of Shah 'Abd al Haqq Muaddith Dehlawi, (Rehmatullahi ’Alaih) as the latter had passed away at a much earlier age, an age even before Shah Isma'il was born. May Allah the Almighty give us knowledge of everyone who came before us, irrespective of whether they were Sahih Sunni ul-'Aqidah, or not.Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
