Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Imam sahib, I am watching DM DIGITAL TV which is owned by sunnis. Tonight they have got shia's sitting side by side with the sunnis in the same room in a mehfil to comemorate the Shahadat of Imam Ali karam Allahu wajahu.
I have 2 questions arising from this. Firstly is it jaiz for sunnis to be sharing the same platform, giving them credence and respect by inviting them to give talks, stories, poetry etc. What is the ruling on sunni Imams sitting in the same majlis as shias like this, in union.
Secondly, the listeners at home is it jaeez if they listen to poetry in praise of Hazrat Imam Ali Radi Allahu anhu, no matter how beautiful the recitation is, if the recitor is Shia ?
Jazakallah for your time.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa SallamJazak'allah for your question. Strictly speaking, from the outset, the situation you have described shouldnt happen. But there maybe a wisdom of Allah the Almighty's in this. It maybe that the Sunni scholars want to share their views with the Shia's? The Shiahs may want to listen, and be part of a team? Maybe the Shia's have no T.V. station of their own, and want to take part? However the case maybe, the Sunnis should have their own T.V. station, and have it for Sunnis alone. How ridiculous it would be for a Sunni station to have Shi'a propogation broadcasted therein? If the reciter is Shi'ah and He is praising Hadrat 'Ali Radi Allahu anhu, then as long as he isn't interfering with your knowledge and beliefs, then it could be permissable. However, if he was to prejudice you, or change you or your belief for the worst, then it would be deemed impermissable for you. May Allah the Almighty give us the opportunity to listen to and participate in gatherings which are on our level for our own good, and may He take away from us the weaknesses, of having tendencies tilted to one side or another.
