Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Hope you are in the best of health.
A question that has put doubts in the minds of many sisters is this. In the state of haiz and nifaas can women drink Zam Zam???
If you could clarify this for me.
Jazakallah

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa SallamJazak'allah for your question. Just as it is not forbidden for women to eat food and drink water, it has not been stated in any books of fiqh forbidding a woman to drink ZamZam water while she is in her menstruating period. Nor has it been stated that she cannot have the dates from an Ennobled place such as Madinah-e-paak, or niyaz of Ghiyarwin Shareef, Chatti Shareef, or any food on other days of commemoration. To the extent that a woman is exempt from performing worship such as fasting and salaah when she is in such a state except that the fasts have to be performed on a later date. Then if a woman is allowed to eat in Ramadhan while she is in a menstrating state, what prevents her from having ZamZam water while she is in this state, as bodily consumption has not been limited to certain types, just because she is in such a state. There is no prohibition of this in the Qur'an al kareem, or the hadith, or by any of the jurists of our school of thought. Therefore, where there is no prohibition regarding such a matter, then it is permissable to consume such blessed water, in this state. Furthermore, those prohibitions while in a state of menstruation have been clearly prescribed of what you are not allowed to do, and drinking the ZamZam is not one of them.
