Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
i wanted to ask you about the day my dad passed away as you already know my dad passed away on shabarath morning. what will my dad benefit from passing away on that day? Will he go straight to jannath? I also want to know that when we make food and pray and i belive that the rooh of the family member comes to the house is this true and if so what do the spirits do because we have lost quite a few members of our family? Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa SallamJazak'allah for your question. There are many benefits for those people who pass away on sacred days like Shab-e-Barat, that are known to people. Since the month is also a blessed one, and falls between two sacred months, Rajjab and Ramadhan, nevertheless it also has countless benefits. It is known that on sacred days if a believer passes away, his soul is taken from his body in the most convenient manner. He does not feel the pain and difficulty of the soul taken away, like that of the non-believer. He also is freed from the questioning of the grave by Munkir and Nakir. They do not appear to him for questioning. He is merely laid to rest. As soon as he is laid into his grave, he is placed in to a garden from one of the gardens of jannah. But that is until the 'Day of Judgement', when everyone will have their reckoning. No punishment is inflicted upon him, for any of the sin that he has committed. Because the the Mercy of Allah the Almighty stirs so strongly, because of the connection of his death on this special night, therefore nothing comes to harm him. When a person makes a khatam on a Thursday for the deceased members of a family, the souls of the deceased already expect this, as is found in some reliable narrations. They actually call out, and ask each member of the family, whether they have anything for them, in the form of reward. This is the whole purpose of having khatams, so that the reward of the khatam of the Qur'an al kareem, the recitation of the surahs, and the reward from giving the food out, can be conveyed to those people who are deceased. May Allah the Almighty give us all the tawfiq to send as much reward as possible to those people who have passed away, whether we know them or not, and may our end be upon an auspicious occasion, and a good one.
