Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam Various ahadith state different things for a person who becomes a shahid. For example, in the Bukhari Sharif, it is stated that if a person dies from plague, he is regarded as a shahid. Similarly, where a person dies whilst a wall falls on him, is also classed as a shahid. Such persons, as is the case for a musafir, so long as he was a practicing Muslim, is also classed as a shahid. The reason being that if the 5 times salah is fard, and the sawm and Hajj, alongwith zakah, then the person practicing these fara'id is a practicing Muslim. Those who dont will still be classed as a shahid, yet they will still have to answer for the negligence that they have committed, although the reward of a shahid, or the death of a shahid, may still be evident. Jazak'allah for your question. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
