It was an Abbasidian court, with all the regalia and splendour.
Mansoor was the King. Just as Mansoor was attending the business to state, a small fly sat on his nose. With a wave of his hand, he whisked it off. But the fly sat on his nose again. This continued till at last Mansoor felt greatly disturbed.
Turning to Imam Jaffer as Sadiq, (alayhis salaam), who was present that day, he said: O Son of the Prophet, (peace be upon him), can you tell me why Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) created these lousy flies?
"Yes", the Imam, said: "So that the mighty and the proud are rendered humble and helpless."
From Unto Thee I Grant...

Hmm a lesson in humility is good for everyone.
Perhaps you have heard the story of the star student who received recognition for being the humblest man in the monastery ? They gave him a pin to wear. The following Sunday he wore it and they took it away from him for being proud.
One wonders sometimes if humility is like this. As soon as we think we are humble, we are not.

"Turn not thy cheek in scorn toward folk, nor walk with proudness in the land. lo! Allah loves not each braggart boaster." (al-quran 31:18)
Those who are proud of themselves because of what they are and of their personal achievements are negating Allah's blessing and mercy, and will receive the curse and the punishment of Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) in this world.

Good post brother, pride is the biggest sin today.

Allah (subhanaha wa Ta'ala) seals the eyes and ears and hearts of the arrogant from knowing the Truth. He declares in the Noble Qur'an,
"I shall turn away from my revelations those who are unjustly proud in the Earth. Even if they see every sign, they will not believe in it. And if they see the right path to salvation they will not take it. If they see the wrong path to error and sin they will take it. This is because they reject Our messages and are heedless of them."
[Sura al-Araf 146]

Abu al-Darda’ reports that I heard the beloved Prophet -peace be upon him - say, “There is nothing in the Balance heavier than the good morals. Indeed the person of good morals will reach by them the rank of the person of fasts and prayers.” (al-Tirmidhi 1926)
