Is this critical ? What if we ignored it Some patches are released by Microsoft to increase the stability/performance of your Operating System (eg XP) and other patches are released to increase the safety of your computer. These patches are either overlooked by Microsoft when they release a product or they are made aware of hackers with malicious intent who wish to exploit these vulnerabilities. In my opinion it's best to download them and keep your computer safe.

Thats true, but its not always the suspicious that are guilty the cautious get entrapped too. By the way what are hotfixes that were asked to download on occasions.

Hotfixes are Microsoft updates which they regard as critical.

I have my pc set up for custom installment, it does all the upgrades and installments for me, i just click yes, when i am switching off, it installs them then switches the pc off itself.

That's the reason why they've invented a function called "Windows Updates".
