About Cookies
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What are cookies? A "cookie" is a small piece of information that is stored in your browser by Web sites that you visit. There are settings in your browser that allow you to control how Web sites interact with your cookies.
What are cookies used for? Web sites commonly use cookies to remember who you are each time you visit; these are "persistent" cookies. Other cookies are used to distinguish you from other users during a single visit. These are "session-based" cookies. When you leave a site or close your browser, session-based cookies disappear.
Why are cookies important? Many web sites cannot work properly if your cookies are disabled. Disabled cookies don't allow web sites to remember you and many personalized actions such as logging in or making purchases will not work.
Are cookies safe? Yes. Cookies only store the information that a Web site already has. In addition, cookies are specific to each Web site. Therefore, other Web sites that you visit cannot access the data stored in cookies that are not specific to them. Cookies do not contain, nor can they access, any files that you have stored on your computer.
How do I change my cookie settings? To change your cookie settings, open a browser window. Under the Tools menu, select Internet Options, and then select the Privacy tab. In the Setting section, click Advanced. To use the default cookie handling settings in MSIE, check or uncheck the "Override automatic cookie handling" option. To customize your cookie settings, check this option and then select Accept, Block, or Prompt for First-party and Third-party cookies. These are the Persistent cookies. Check the "Always allow session cookies" to enable your session-based cookies.
