Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuHave you got any fish recipes??? I love fish but unfortunately I am not an expert in making fish especially fried fish ;D I tend to use fresh cod fish cube it and use fish masala and a bit of besan and tandoori paste and lemon juice and marinate and leave overnight and fry and eat with salad and chutney have any of you alternative recipes??? maybe rather than frying maybe grilling or cooking in the oven?? fish is fine to me but not many in my husbands home like it so i dont cook it so often. beware of those that say prawns and crab and lobster are halal because theyre not.

Prawns and crabs make my skin crawl yes I know they are makrooh they are insects could not eat them even if they were halal

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhuthey are shell fish not insects and are not haraam. makrooh does not mean haraam. My uncle makes them in his resteraunt.

Salaam Sisters, From what i have learnt about prawns and crabs is that these types of fish are from the generation of selfish and according to the four madhabs of islam some allow eating them but according to the Imam Abu Hanifa madhab which is what the majority of the muslims belong to allow not to eat these foods due to this issue being uncertain.

So its each to there own choice, not one of the four madhabs say its Haraam or Not permissible.

i like fish alot.and i have also eaten prawn,the small ones which are just some inches long.but the day i heard that its makrooh,i stopped eating.its one of my favourite but now i dont feel like eating.And i think that makrooh means that one shouldnt eat it.

Spicy baked fish
Ingredients: 1/2 tsp chilli powder 1/3 kg fish, skinned 3/4 cup yoghurt 1 tbsp lemon juice 1 tbsp garlic, crushed 1 tsp coriander, ground 2 tsp all spice powder Salt and pepper to taste Lemon wedges Mint leaves for garnish, chopped
Method: Rinse fish, set aside in a strainer to dry and place in a shallow non-metal dish. Sprinkle salt and pepper. Mix together yoghurt, coriander, chilli powder, garlic paste and lemon juice. Rub it well on the fish, cover and refrigerate for a couple of hours. Oil a baking dish and put the marinated fish in it. Place in a pre-heated oven and cook for about 15 minutes on medium heat. Check to see if the fish is done, if it is not then leave for five more minutes. Serve hot, garnished with lemon wedges and chopped mint leaves.

Fish With coconut
Ingredients: 1/2 kg fish fillets 1 inch long ginger piece 1½ tbsp white vinegar 2-3 tbsp desiccated coconut 3 whole red chillies 3 tbsp all purpose flour 6 garlic cloves Salt to taste Oil for frying Lemon wedges for garnishing
Method: Wash the fish fillets and pat dry. Sprinkle all-purpose flour over fillets and keep aside. Grind together red chillies, coconut, ginger, garlic and vinegar along with enough water to make a fine paste. Add salt and evenly coat the fillets with the paste. Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the fish till it is crisp. Serve hot and garnish with lemon wedges.

FISH AMRITSARI
Ingredients
Fish fillets, cut into fingers 600 grams Red chilli powder 1 tablespoon Salt to taste Carom seeds (ajwain) 1 teaspoon Ginger paste 2 tablespoons Garlic paste 2 tablespoons Lemon juice 1 tablespoon Gram flour (besan) 1 cup Oil to deep fry Egg 1 Chaat masala 1 teaspoon Lemons, cut into wedges 2
Method
Take the fish fingers in a bowl. Add red chilli powder, salt, carom seeds, ginger paste, garlic paste, lemon juice, gram flour and mix well. Set aside.
Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Break an egg into the fish mixture and mix. Put the fingers, a few at a time, into the hot oil and deep fry till almost done. Drain and place on an absorbent paper.
Deep fry again just before serving till golden and crisp. Drain and place on an absorbent paper. serve hot with lemon wedges.

If you want make the fish recipes in your kitchen then you can make it easily by collecting the different recipes preparation procedure for the fish recipes.You can read different e-books on recipes or videos that relates to fish recipes preparation etc. Also you can ask for the preparation procedures in different forums or discussion boards to get the answers.
