A poem in the praise of Ghaus al-Azam Hadrat Shaykh Mohyuddin Abdul Qadir Jilani (Radi Allahu anhu)
By Imam Ahmed Raza Khan Barelvi1. O Ghaus! You hold a place of prominence. Your feet are above the heads in eminence. 2. Whose looks can towards your head rise? Mystics at best kiss your feet with their eyes. 3. Very brave are your protected men. Your dog frightens a lion in the den. 4. Your ancestors are Hussain and Hassan. Both traditions in your person have become one! 5. With oaths Allah persuades you to eat. To Him you are so dear, so sweet! 6. He who sees your personality’s halo. Actually sees our Prophet’s spiritual shadow. 7. Zahra’s son is blessed in your birth. Qadris are your blessing on this earth. 8. The art of giving in yours by inheritance. The prophet bequeathed to you his pittance. 9. Prophetic rain, Alvi crop, Batooli bower; Hussain’s fragrance in Hassan’s flower. 10. Prophetic supervision, Alvi star, Batooli boon; Hussain’s light in Hussain’s moon. 11. Prophetic beauty, Alvi mountain, Batooli quarry; Hussain’s dazzle in Hassan’s ruby. 12. Ocean or land gardens or desert, city or village, Which place does not hear your message? 13. With purity of intent, one cannot commit a vice, I have tested your grace, not once but twice. 14. Your thirsty are too weak to stand and explain. Their eyes, however, long for your generous vein. 15. O Ghaus! How sinful and dirty I have been. Before my imminent death, wash me clean! 16. Your holy water I need in right earnest. It purifies more than a handful of dust! 17. When time comes, the bird of my soul will fly! Hard luck! I cannot see you until I die! 18. At your door there are dogs, young and old, Living afar I am still in your fold. 19. Dogs with this insignia are never killed, never! Please leave your collar on my neck forever. 20. Baghdadi dogs know my name and stamp, Though in India I am spiritually in the Baghdadi camp. 21. O Master, by virtue of your sense of dignity Upon your servant’s plight please take pity. 22. A thief, a criminal, a man so base, O kind Master, I am yours in any case. 23. I shall still be after you named O Ghaus! If I stand somewhere blamed. 24. Raza! Don’t crawl, you may be small. Your renowned Master is best of all! 25. Yet another excellent poem for the Master? Come on, Raza, inscribe your name in the register! Translated by Professor G.D. Qureshi. Taken from: “ The World Importance of Ghaus al Azam Hadrat Shaykh Mohyuddin Abdul Qadir Jilani (Radi Allahu Anhu)". By Muhammad Haroon, Raza Academy (Publisher).

KHUDA KE FAZL SE HUM PAR HE SAAYA GHAUS-E-AZAM KA
HUME DONO JAHAA ME HE SAHAARA GHAUSE-E-AZAM KA
Through the Grace of Almighty Allah, upon us is the shadow of Ghaus-e-Azam
With us, in both the worlds is the aid of Ghaus-e-Azam

"O Allah! Send thy blessings on our Master, Muhammad, whose light was created before anything else in this world and whose appearance became mercy and signal boon for all the creatures, equivalent to all those created previously and hereafter equal in number with the lucky and unlucky ones; and send thy blessing and bounties on him in the number which is impossible to be counted even, and which may be spread all over, and also that kindness and mercy which has neither beginning nor end, and which is always fresh and fine with your kindness, and the same blessings on his Family and Companions permanently". This Durood Shareef was very dear and near to Hazrat Ghaus-e-Azam, Sheikh Abdul Qaadir Jilani (alaihir rahmah) of Baghdad Shareef. He ended all his lectures, recitations and writings with this Durood. It is for this reason that it is called Durood-e-Ghausia. It is very sacred, very important, very effective and 100% success. The Saints says that if a man recites this Durood Shareef 10 times in the morning and 10 times in the evening, Allah Ta'ala fetches him nearer and nearer and loves him a lot. The reciter becomes a Saint himself. Apart from this, he will be safe from all the catastrophes of the world. The Mercy of Allah will start pouring upon him endlessly.

King of JinnS It is the statement of Bashir bin Mahfooz that once my daughter Fatima was on the house roof when all of a sudden she disappeared. I became worried and presented the problem to the King of Baghdad Huzoor Sayyiduna Ghaus-e-Paak (radi Allahu ta’ala anhu). He (radi Allahu ta’ala anhu) told me to go to KARKH and to sit in a deserted place during the night and to form a fort around myself. Think about me and say BISMILLAH. During the night many groups of Jinn will pass by you, their faces will be very strange but do not get scared. At the time of SEHRI the KING OF JINNS will come to you and will ask you about your requirement. Say to him that Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (radi Allahu ta’ala anhu) has sent me from Baghdad and I want you to search for my daughter. Following the orders of Huzoor Ghaus-e-Azam (radi Allahu ta’ala anhu) I went to KARKH and formed a fort around myself in a deserted place and waited. During the silence of the night horrifying Jinnaat kept on passing my fort. The faces of the Jinnaat were so horrifying that I could not bear to look at them. At the time of sehri the KING OF JINNS came riding on a horse surrounded by a crowd of Jinns. From outside the fort he asked what I wanted. I said that Huzoor Ghaus-e-Azam (radi Allahu ta’ala anhu) has sent me to you. As soon as he heard this, he got down from the horse and sat on the ground. The other Jinns also sat outside the fort. I told him the incident of the disappearance of my daughter. He announced amongst all the Jinns, "Who has taken the girl?" Within moments the Jinnaat caught a Chinese Jinn and presented him as the culprit. The KING OF JINNS asked him, “Why did you kidnap the girl from the city of the Qutub (Highest Cadre in Spiritual Pivot) of this time?” Whilst shivering he said, “Your Highness! I fell in love with her upon seeing her.” The King ordered the Chinese Jinn to be beheaded and returned my beloved daughter back to me. Upon thanking the KING OF JINNS I said “Masha-Allah (az’zawajal)! You are a great lover of Sayyiduna Ghaus-e-Paak (radi Allahu ta’ala anhu).” Upon hearing this he said “I SWEAR UPON ALLAH (az’zawajal)! WHEN HUZOOR GHAUS-E-PAAK (radi Allahu ta’ala anhu) LOOKS TOWARDS US, ALL THE JINNAAT BEGIN TREMBLING. WHEN ALLAH (az’zawajal) NOMINATES A QUTUB OF THAT TIME THEN ALL THE JINNS AND HUMANS ARE ORDERED TO FOLLOW HIM.” Al Madad! Its a very long time since i read this story. I think this story of the many that there are, truly emphasises the rank and status of Sarkar-e-Baghdad (Radi Allahu anhu) he is held in such a high place that even the djinns tremble ...
