Giarhwih Sharif The anniversary of returning of Gaus-al-Azam (Radi Allahu anhu) unto Him is observed on 11th of Rabi-al-Thani each year and is called Giarhwih Sharif. The celebration of Giarhwih Sharif has been observed by Great Awliya and Ulema for many hundreds of years. Giarhwih Sharif is specifically an Essale -e Sawaab for Ghos-al- Azam (Radi Allahu anhu). It is also celebrated on the 11th of every islamic month in many mosques and homes. This auspicious function takes place both nationally and internationally endowing great spiritual benefits and barakaat. The devotees of the Great Saint hold public meetings, where Ullema pay tributes and shed light on the life and work of the Great Ghous. The Mahafil –e-Quran Khawani (gatherings for the recitation of the Glorious Quran) are held, general feasts are hosted. And friends and relations, near and dear ones, rich and poor are offered food specially cooked for the occasion. All such majalis (public meetings) mahafils, (gatherings) and feasts are observed throughout the month of Rabi-al-Thani. Gharhwih Sharif is a manifestation of love, regard and respect to wards Mahboob-e- Subhani (Beloved of Allah) Kings of Pir’s Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (Radi Allahu anhu). It has also been a routine of all saints and scholars to observe Giarwih Sharif, regularly and with full sanctity. It is in fact a great blessing from Almighty Allah on Aulia Mohiyuddin Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (Radi Allahu anhu) that countless people acknowledge the selfless, and dedicated services rendered by him for the well being of mankind. It is the loving kindness of Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) that He showers His mercy on the persons paying tribute to His Beloved, Mehboob-e Subhani (Radi Allahu anhu). It is the endless generosity of Almighty Allah that he grants their Prayers. Since the feeding of the poor had become a great routine of the life of Ghous –al- Azam (Radi Allahu anhu), laid down of feeding the poor, by the Great Saint, is revived by his devotees, faithful and descendents who follow the tradition with full dignity and sanctity. in memory of Mehboob –e-Subhani, Ghous-ul-Azam Dastigir, Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (Radi Allahu anhu). Giarwih Sharif is specifically an Essale –Sawab for Sayidina Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani. (Radi Allahu anhu) . The Hadith and the verses of the Glorious Quran as well as many other, suggest Dua, and Essale Sawaab for those Muslims who came before us is a highly commendable act. This action of making Dua is also an essence of the Giarhwih Sharif. Although the event pertains the Great Saint all Muslims are remembered in the Dua’s for Essale sawaab. "During the Giarwih Sharif, the sultan and the pious elders congregate at the Mazaar Sharif (blessed tomb) of Sayyiduna Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (Radi Allahu anhu)in Baghdad Sharif. They recite the Khatam sharif from ASR Salaat till Maghrib Salaat and also recite the praises of the Great Saint. After the Maghrib Salaat, the spiritual Head sits in the middle of the congregation and leads the Zikhr. On this occasion many people experience a sense of Wajd (spiritual ecstasy). This is followed by distribution of sweets prepared for the function ". Ghous -Al -Azam (Radi Allahu anhu)was a man of great courage and determination. He was obeying directions from Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) and Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) and had Aap (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) Blessings with him.

MASHALLAH THIS MONTH IS THE GHIYARWEE OF GHIYARWEE'S
Sayidina Ghaws-e-A'zam (Radi Allahu anhu) said that, "Whosoever in his distress cries to me for help, he will be relieved of his distress; whosoever in his difficulty calls by my name, his difficulty will be solved; whosoever in his time of need-makes me as his intermediary to Allah Ta’ala , his needs will be fulfilled.

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhuone of the best quotes that reminds of his blessed wisdom , which shows that he truely was the awliya of all awliya is "That I can see the world in the palm of my hand like a single grain of barley" Subhanallah! Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuHas anyone thought why do we need to transfer blessings and virtue to notable saints of Allah especially Gauth ul-'Azam (Radi Allahu anhu)? They are people whose entire lives were devoted to the work of Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala). Why do they require us to present gifts of virtue to them? It is not them who require this virtue and blessings but it is us who are in need of establishing a connection with them. Hazrat Ibn Masud (Radi Allahu anhu) relates that a man came to the noble Prophet (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) and asked: "O Messenger of Allah! What would you say about a person who loves (certain) people but does not share their period? He (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) replied, "A person will be with those he loves." [Bukhari and Muslim] So by sending this gift of blessing to Hazrat Gauth ul-'Azam (Radi Allahu anhu) and other friends of Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala), we are showing love and affection for them. And on the Day of Judgment when our association with these people will be established through our gifts to them, we will be counted within their lines. As the Messenger (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) said, "A person will be with those who he loves."

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Jazakh Allah khair for the link of the Beautiful Roza of The Great Shaikh Hadrat Ghous -al- Azam (Radi Allahu anhu).
This is taken from An excerpt from Ghaus -ul- Azam Dastagir (Radi Allahu anhu) by Abdul aziz Urfi, Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan and high Court Of Sindh.
The period of preaching by Ghous-al-Azam Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (Radi Allahu anhu) is of considerable importance. It is spread over more than forty years and more of his precious life.
It started in 521 A.H. and continued till 561 A.H. He devoted himself wholly as a teacher. There were good reasons for it. In the first instance he was an educationist, a keen lover of knowledge and a staunch suppoertor of mass literacy. This is eveident from his sermons. Secondly, being very modest by nature, he always refrained from projecting himself in the limelight. Thirdly, Baghdad in those days was highly developed in the art of oratory and there were many recognised and celebrated Arab orators who by their command of language and the gift of making stirring speeches, had become very popular amongst all selections of people.
Fourthly, with him being a native of non-Arabic speaking land, he was at a disadvantage when compared to the Arabs, in the field of oratory for which eloquence and fluency of speech were profound value and importanc. In spite of these disadvantages, he was able to acquire, due to his courage, apitude and profiency in the art of oratory.
Ultimately he became a great orator and preacher of his time. He earned fame in this field in the same way as he had won recognition of his talents as a scholar and a teacher.
It is narrated that on the 16th Shawwal 521 AH, he was blessed with the Ziyyarat ( Vision) of Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam); who questioned him, " why do you not preach?" He humbly submitted: " I am a Ajami. and I do not have enough command of the Arabic language to enable me to deliever public speeches". Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad Mustufa (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) blessed him by reciting on him 7 times the following verse: " Call unto the way of Thy Lord with wisdom and fair extortion, and reason with them in the better way"
Ghous- Al- Azam (Radi Allahu anhu), thus blessed and directed by Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam), finished his prayers, and mounted the Mimber (pulpit) of the Mosque.
He delivered his maiden speech before the congregation on one of the religious injunctions. There were not many people in the audience because up to that time he was known only as a teacher and nobody knew him as a orator or a reformer. Small audiences and lack of interest shown by the people in his early speeches, did not bring about any discouragment to him. He was a man fo great courage and determanation.
He knew that he was obeying the directions of Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad Mustufa (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) and His blessings were with him.
The learned authors of Qalaidul Jawahir and Safinatul Awliya have mentioned that he was also directed and BLESSED BY HIS GREAT-GRAND FATHER, hADRAT ALI IBN ABU TALIB (Radi Allahu anhu) to deliver sermons. He never suffered from lack of confidence. His lack of fluency Arabic, or in the art of oratory, were no longer problems to deter him. He used to deliever sermons with the confidence that whatever words would come oput of his mouth, would be inspirations from Almighty Allah.

Continued.......
It was the result of his complete dedication to duty and unshakeable belief in Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) that within a short span of time, his fame as an orator spread throughout the length and breadth of the Muslim world. His sermons became so popular that people would come in droves from far places to listen to his sermons. The mosque where he delivered his sermons fell short of accomodation. Therefore, on request of the public, he shifted the venue to Jamia- masjid which was the biggest mosque of Baghdad in those days. Later on, this mosque also could not also accommodate the people, therefore they carried his Mimber (pulpit) to Eid Gaah ( an open space where Eid prayers are held). Later, the increasing swell of his audience obliged him to set apart three days of the week to deliver Khutbas; The fridays and Mondays in his Jamia (University) and sundays in his Khanqah ( monastery), which was being maintained and run under his direct supervision. Among his audience there were people from every walk of life; people of different faiths, of different views and status. there used to be Asfia, Fuqaha ( jurists), Ulama (Scholars) of hight repute, Mashaikh, muslims and non-Muslims, commoners, ministers, and even rivals. It was a miracle of His words, of his way of speaking and of his manner of expressing ideas that at the end of each Khutba. there used to be a long line of people coming forward for bayt atHis hands, and thereby giving up their past ways of sinful living. Many non-Muslims, notably the jews and Christians, came forward to embrace Islam at His hand.
Ghous- Al- Azam was not heavily built but slim. The resolute hard life, long hours of meditation and ceaseless struggle against Nafs (self), had made him wiry. He was of meduim height, neither short nor tall. He had a full grown beard, and his countenance sparkled with Noor (Spiritual Glow)- the natural effect of his night -long prayers..
His voice was louder and greater penetrating than could be imagined from a man of his constitition. At about the time of delivering sermons, he was audiable to thousands of people sitting around him. There were approximately seventy thousand people attending his sermons and some of them had come from places as far as Syria, Yemen and Egypt. There Used to be several Hundred people, ready with their pens to write each and every word spoken by him.

Virtues of Rabi al-Thani The fourth month of the Islamic calendar is Rabi al Thani or sometimes known as Akhir. In this very month is the anniversary of the King of Baghdad, Chief of the contented souls, the incomparable, Hadrat Ghawth al-A'zam, Sayyadina Shaykh Muhiyudin, Abd'al-Qadir al-Jilani, al-Hasani w'al-Husaini, Bhagdadi (Radi Allahu ta'ala Anhu). Muslims throughout the world in this month zealously make arrangements to offer Niyaz and Fateha of the Saint of Baghdad. Charity is also given in the name of Pious Saints of Islam as a means of conveying reward to these blessed from which not only the poor and beggars benefit a great deal but the souls of the believers also obtain peace and contentment. "Essale thawaab" means conveying the reward of. In this respect there is a Hadith reported by Hadrat Anas bin Malik (Radi Allahu ta'ala Anhu) that he asked the Most Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu ta'ala Alaihi wa Sallam) : "Oh Messenger of Allah, when we give charity on behalf of our dead and perform Hajj on their behalf, do they receive the reward of these actions?" The Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu ta'ala Alaihi wa Sallam) replied: "Without doubt they do receive their rewards. Not only that, but they become very happy, just as any one of you would become happy on receiving gifts." In a second Hadith the the most Beloved Messenger (Salla Allahu ta'ala Alaihi wa Sallam) of Allah says: "Anyone who recites Surah Ikhlas 11 times and then conveys its reward to the departed souls, Allah Ta’ala will shower rewards on such a person equal to the number of these souls .…" These AHadiths serve as ample proof that the deceased souls do benefit from the good deeds and charities of the living. This is an opportune moment to relate to you the saying of Shaykh Sayyadina Abd'al-Qadir al Jilani (Radi Allahu ta'ala Anhu). Ghawth al-A'zam said that, "Whosoever in his distress cries to me for help, he will be relieved of his distress; whosoever in his difficulty calls by my name, his difficulty will be solved; whosoever in his time of need-makes me as his intermediary to Allah Ta’ala , his needs will be fulfilled. Any person who performs 2 rakaats Namaaz in which after Surah Fateha, recites Surah Ikhlas 11 times and then making salam sends Darood on the Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu ta'ala Alayhi wa Sallam), the garden of mercy after which he thinks of me and takes 11 steps towards the direction of Iraq calling my name, then presents his need, with Allah Ta’ala’s permission his need will be fulfilled." The Namaaz is known as Salaat al-Asrar or Salaat al-Ghausiyyah :
Which is a proven means of obtaining fulfillment of one’s needs and prayers. Salaat al-Asrar is explained by Imam Abd'al Hassan Nuruddeen Alli Ibn Jaleel in Bahjat al-Asrar, and Hadrat Mullah Ali Qari and Shaykh Abd'al Haq Muhaddith Dhelvi (Radi Allahu ta'ala Anhum) have reported from Hadrat Ghawth al-A'zam (Radi Allahu ta'ala Anhu). Its method is as follows: After completing the Fard and Sunnat of Maghrib Namaz, Offer 2 rakaats and in each rakaat after Surah Fateha recite 11 times Surah Ikhlas, then recite this dua 11 times:
''Ya Rasul Allah hey ya Nabi Allah Hey Aghisni was Amdidni fi Qadi’ ai hajati ya Qadi yal hajat."
Then taking 11 steps in the direction of Iraq read the following on each step:
"Ya Ghaus-saqa-lainey ya Karim mat-tarfainey aghisni wa amdidni fi Qada-e hajati ya Qadi yal hajat."
Thereafter, making the Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu ta'ala alaihi wa aalihi Sallam) as the intermediary present one’s needs and desires to Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Important Dates and Anniversaries of Rabi al-Thani

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
This is one of my favourite stories about asking help from Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani (Radi Allahu anhu) takne from Qalaa'id al-Jawaahir (Necklace of Gems) by Shaykh Muhammad ibn Yahya At-Tadifi.
Shaikh 'Abd al-Qadir recovers a pair of wooden clogs.
The two Shaykhs, Abu Amr Uthman as-Sirafini and Abu Muhammad Abd al-Haqq al-Huraimi, have informed us : "We were together in the company of Shaykh Abd al-Qadir (Radi Allahu anhu), at his schoolhouse, on Sunday the 3rd of Safar in the year [a.h] 555. While we were there, the Shaykh got up and performed the ablution for the ritual prayer [tawadda'a li's-salaat], wearing high wooden clogs [qabqaab][to keep his feet from getting muddy]. He performed two cycles of prayer [rak'atain], and then, as soon as he had pronounced the final salutation, he uttered a tremendous shout. He grabbed one of the clogs, and hurled it into the air, so far the we lost sight of it. Then he uttered another shout, and threw the second clog, so that it also dissappeared from our view. Then he sat down, but neither of us dared ask him what that was all about.
Twenty three days later, a caravan arrived from Persia, and the newcomers said : "We have brought with us a votive offering for the Shaykh." At their request, we asked the Shaykh to recieve them, and he permitted them to present their offering. "Accept it from them," he told us, so they gave us a gown made of silk, or of silk and fur, some gold, and the pair of clogs the Shaykh had thrown away! When we asked them: "Where on earth did you find these clogs?" they said: "While we were traveling along, on Sunday the 3rd of Safar, some Arabs launched a raid against us, led by two chieftains. They plundered our goods, and killed several of our number. Then they went down into a valley, where they divided our goods amongst them. At that point we said to one another, suppose we were to dedicate some part of our goods, right here and now, as an offering to Shaykh Abd al-Qadir (Radi Allahu anhu), if he would rescue us... We had scarcely finished speaking these words, remembering him, and dedicating something to him, when we heard two tremendous shouts, echoing through the valley. We could see that those Arabs were terrified, and we thought that someone had come to arrest them. Some of them approached us and said: Come and take your goods, and see what has alarmed us! They led us to their chieftains, and we discovered that both of them were dead. Next to each of the corpses we noticed a pair of clogs, wet with water. Then they returned all our goods to us, and told us: This affair has enormous significance for us".
May Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) be well pleased with the Shaykh.

King of JinnS
It is the statement of Bashir bin Mahfooz that once my daughter Fatima was on the house roof when all of a sudden she disappeared. I became worried and presented the problem to the King of Baghdad Huzoor Sayyiduna Ghaus-e-Paak (radi Allahu ta’ala anhu). He (radi Allahu ta’ala anhu) told me to go to KARKH and to sit in a deserted place during the night and to form a fort around myself. Think about me and say BISMILLAH. During the night many groups of Jinn will pass by you, their faces will be very strange but do not get scared. At the time of SEHRI the KING OF JINNS will come to you and will ask you about your requirement. Say to him that Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (radi Allahu ta’ala anhu) has sent me from Baghdad and I want you to search for my daughter.
Following the orders of Huzoor Ghaus-e-Azam (radi Allahu ta’ala anhu) I went to KARKH and formed a fort around myself in a deserted place and waited. During the silence of the night horrifying Jinnaat kept on passing my fort. The faces of the Jinnaat were so horrifying that I could not bear to look at them. At the time of sehri the KING OF JINNS came riding on a horse surrounded by a crowd of Jinns. From outside the fort he asked what I wanted. I said that Huzoor Ghaus-e-Azam (radi Allahu ta’ala anhu) has sent me to you. As soon as he heard this, he got down from the horse and sat on the ground. The other Jinns also sat outside the fort. I told him the incident of the disappearance of my daughter. He announced amongst all the Jinns, "Who has taken the girl?" Within moments the Jinnaat caught a Chinese Jinn and presented him as the culprit. The KING OF JINNS asked him, “Why did you kidnap the girl from the city of the Qutub (Highest Cadre in Spiritual Pivot) of this time?” Whilst shivering he said, “Your Highness! I fell in love with her upon seeing her.” The King ordered the Chinese Jinn to be beheaded and returned my beloved daughter back to me. Upon thanking the KING OF JINNS I said “Masha-Allah (az’zawajal)! You are a great lover of Sayyiduna Ghaus-e-Paak (radi Allahu ta’ala anhu).” Upon hearing this he said “I SWEAR UPON ALLAH (az’zawajal)! WHEN HUZOOR GHAUS-E-PAAK (radi Allahu ta’ala anhu) LOOKS TOWARDS US, ALL THE JINNAAT BEGIN TREMBLING. WHEN ALLAH (az’zawajal) NOMINATES A QUTUB OF THAT TIME THEN ALL THE JINNS AND HUMANS ARE ORDERED TO FOLLOW HIM.”

Alhamdolillah here in NZ(Auckland) we have recently over the last year started holding regular Giyarwee Sharif functions in different peoples homes every month. I really enjoy these programmes and it's a good way of spreading the blessings to the different households. Really looking forward to a big night in this blessed month. Fi Amanillah

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Subhanallah! An excellent thread on Giyyarh mi Sharif.
Ghaus -ul-Azam Hazrat Mohiyyuddin Abdul Qadir Jilani (Rehmatullahi ’Alaih) has stated that any person who wanted respect and wealth in this world, should recite Surah Ikhlas 3 times, with Durood Sharif recited 3 times beforehand and after it. In addition, after Farz Salaah recite the Ayat given below. Whilst reciting the Ayat, look up towards the sky.
" Wa main- yat- ta qillah yaj-al lahu makh-ra-jaoo(n) wa yar-zukh-hu minn hai-so la yah-ta-sib wa main-yat-tawal-Allal-lahi faho-wa has-bo-hu, inna-lah ba-le-go am-re-hi qad ja-allal-laho le-kul-li shai-in qadra."
On completion of his Wazaif, Ghaus al-Azam, Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani (Rehmatullahi ’Alaih) used to recite this Durood Sharif mentioned below. The Saints say that one who recites this Durood ten times daily in the morning and ten times in the evening, will be nearer to Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala); recieve innumerable mercies and will be saved from every evil. All difficulties of the reciter are solved.
Durood-e-Ghausia.

Shaikh Umar Bazzaaz (Radi Allahu anhu)states that:"One day I was walking with Sayyiduna Shaikh Abdul Qadir (Radi Allahu anhu) Jilanitowards the Jaamia Musjid.I noticed that nobody was making salaam to Him.I though to myself, that when we go to the musjid every jumma, there is such a large crowd of people to meet him that one finds it impossible to even get close to the great Shaikh
"Sayyiduna Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (Radi Allahu anhu) looked at me and smiled,Suddenly, there was a rush of people waiting to meet and greet Him.The crowd became so large that i found myself far away from the Great Shaikh.I thought to myself that the previous state was better when i found myself close to Sayyiduna Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (Radi Allahu anhu)
The great Shaikh looked at me and replied:"O Umar, you were the one that desired these people!Do you not realize that the hearts of the people are in my control. If I desire I can turn those hearts towards me and if I desire,I can turn them away from Me."
