Sayings of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani (Q) :
"God the Most High, has made His intimacy with His servants when they see His saints."
Remember this always when seeing a saint or being in their presence, it is never a waste of time! Even if you don't understand a word of what they say.
"there are three big snakes that harm human beings:
o to be fed up with the people around you;
o to be accustomed to something you cannot leave;
o to be controlled by your ego;"
Association is greatly important, that is to associate with people regularly and for them to be people of good. The companions knew the Beloved (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) intimately (as much as they could) and they knew each other with intimacy too. This was done out of their association, and so one should not be fed up with the company he holds, it can be very dangerous!
The second can be related to addictions or just general life. One should not get too accustomed to his way of life as this can make him lazy and robot-like.
The ego controlled makes you a lion, when the ego controls however, it begins to worship itself (manifestated by you) and so makes you like Pharaoh (Fir'awn).
"to achieve in the worldly life is humiliation, and to achieve for the next life is honor. I am so amazed at those who prefer humiliation to honor."
Even things that we do in the Dunya (this worldly life) should be in preperation for the Akhira (Hereafter). For example to work for good grades in order to get a good job and money, so that your wealth can be distributed to those in need in the way of Allah . InshAllah .
"God said, 'Whoever will be patient with Us will reach Us.'"
Be patient with the trials that Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) bestows upon you, there are many blessings in that too.
"If fear of God is grounded in the heart, the tongue will never speak what is of no purpose."
Fear of losing His love is greater than any other.
"Tasawwuf is the purity in progressing to God, the Exalted and Glorious' Divine Presence, and its essence is to leave this materialistic life."
"One time Junayd saw Iblis (satan) in a vision, and he was naked. He told him 'O Accursed one, are you not shy of people to appear naked?' He said, 'O Junayd, why should I be shy of people that are not shy from themselves.'"
Be shy and modest in every situation. Rasoolullah (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) once told the Sahaba (Radi Allahu anhum Ajma'een) to cover themselves. They asked, 'What about when we are on our own?' The reply came from the Best of all creation (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) , ' Allah is still there , and so be shy infront of Him .'
The non-bold are things I have put in and the bold is from Mawlana Shaykh . Allah bless you and forgive me Ameen !
