Assalamu 'alaykum, Islam prohibits the ridiculing or insulting of any religion, hence Muslims worldwide expect the same treatment. Islam demands good counseling and diplomacy. Islam also teaches tolerance of other faiths. Islam also recognizes and permits the freedom of speech but restricts it with decency, showing sensitivity and rationale. Islam is an intellectual religion and its laws are very much rational, intelligible and harmonious to the very cause and essence of human nature. Islam means peace and obedient submissive Muslims should be at peace with the natural and social environment and ultimately in peace with themselves and the Laws of Allah, Most Sublime. Here we identify the problem. We are not in total submission, hence not in peace with ourselves. We have suppressed our godly and natural humanist outlook to life because we have changed our goals in life. We demand respect yet we show no respect. We demand tolerance yet show no tolerance. We demand justice but our actions prove otherwise. If we truly want to change the world we must change ourselves first. Only then will we see attitudes and behaviours changing towards ourselves. Our slogans ‘Islam means peace’ are very shallow and hollow. Our anger with the published cartoons is totally justified. The editors knew very well what provocation they would stir. I'm sure it was premeditated. At the moment there are injustices on both sides. Muslims must not incite violence. It should be left upon the shoulders of those in power. The Muslim governments for once reacted swiftly and wisely by withdrawing Danish products and withdrawing their Ambassadors. We must allow diplomacy to work. Our role as common Muslims, other than mass peaceful protests should be to take this opportunity to engage in dialect in a rational and intellectual way to educate our neighbours, non-Muslim friends at schools, work, local council, government, media, journalists, etc, explaining the true nature of Islam and the Messenger of Islam, salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. We must explain that they have got it totally wrong. Our Prophet, salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, was the greatest humanist and peaceful person ever to tread this earth. He was sent as Mercy for all the worlds, to remove oppression and indecency, violence and injustices. The journalists behind the cartoons sparked off the precise reaction they most likely intended; to defame Islam and justify the demonizing of our Prophet, salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, as a terrorist. The extreme Muslim groups also responded likewise, taking this opportunity to hijack our Islam for their means of recruitment, playing on our sensitivities and emotions and politicizing the whole affair for their cause. Many Muslims carry many angers in their hearts, and we should! There are many injustices the West is carrying out towards Muslims and in Muslim lands. But so too are our Muslim leaders and governments. Whenever incidents like this occur we take it upon ourselves to right the wrong in an un-Islamic way. We let our emotions and anger do the talking. There should be anger but measured and in a controlled way. Couldnt have put it better. We do need to have a long hard look at ourselves, definitely.

I agree with Abu Hafs. They say these blasphemous cartoons were published as a test of freedom of expression, but that is not true, as freedom of expression does not need to be tested in a country where freedom of expression exists. No one was arrested as a result of the publishing of the cartoons and it was known that no one would be arrested. It is also known that if you express your opinion, there will be repercussions if you offend or hurt others, so that aspect of expression was not in need of testing either.
Freedom of expression is not an complex issue, it is black and white - if there are things you are not allowed to express, it is in the law and it is known and you will be put in jail when you break the law, such as happened to the stupid editor in Jordan who published the cartoons.
The evil cartoons were published out of hostility to definetly provoke Muslims, and this publication in a country with a government which was already hostile towards foreigners and immigrants but esp muslims. In my opinion the Danes have tarnished the neutral and peaceful reputation of Scandinavia as a region and will be solely responsible for having invoked the wrath of Islamic terrorists against this region and the arrival of terrorist attacks on Scandinavian soil or at least against Scandinavian citizens.
Watch this space.

Interesting ...
Plot to create animosity between Christianity, Islam 2/4/2006 9:21:00 PM GMT Commenting on recent wave of sacrilege of Islamic sanctities in the West, 'Tehran Times' wrote on Saturday that such blasphemous acts were part of a wider plan aimed at creating a dangerous rift" between Islam and the West.
It argued that the U.S. neoconservatives and the Israeli lobby "have formulated a plot to influence public opinion in the West so as to foster animosity between Islam and Christianity, specially after the 9/11 attacks in the U.S."
The paper, moreover, stated that the propaganda campaign led by some biased Western media outlets, particularly those controlled by the Zionists, "inspired certain Christian fundamentalist groups to launch an ideological offensive against Islam, which led to a general rise in Islamophobia in the West".

Watch this space. Denmark was a respectfull European nation, very open minded at the cultural diverse population,in comparrison to its regional neigbhours (France) of course. Im sure many of it citizens are upset at the goverments action in response to the to blasphemous caricutures.....the govt. has just dug a big hole for its self, one that it is gonna take a long time diggin' to itself out of. Apart from this the economic boycott is also effecting the country, my friend told me how this Danish gentlemen was talking to CNN about how his business is nearly on the verge of bankruptcy. His business was to ship milk to the Middle East, to countries such as Saudi Arabia and Kuwait and had been well established there for 20 years and had good relations with his Muslim buyers , due to the boycott he has indeed lost out in more ways than one, because he understands through his Muslim friends just how offensive the cartoons really were.

I think we are beginning to find out Denmark is not the politically correct country we once thought it was!Did you know two years ago Denmark refused to print cartoons about Jesus (pbuh) ... why ? did they think he was not a Prophet of Islam! think about it...The thing is how many people have now published these cartoons just to futher provoke muslims. And christians are so vocal to say why doesnt Islam condemn terrorism, when religion has nothing to do with Islam, then why didnt they openly condemn these cartoons. Touche.
