Salam,
Just want to ask you all to remember and pray for Hafez Arif who i know some of you here knew and are related to. I have taken this extract from the homepage of www.islam786.org where you can see a beautiful photo of Hafez Saheb. Hafez Arif was taken away by Allah SWT last Ramadan on the 4th of November 2003.
The WebTeam would like to dedicate our efforts to the memory
of Haji Muhammad Hafez Arif Ashrafi who went to Jannah on
the 9th of Ramadan 2003.
Hafez Arif was a devoted mureed of Hadrat Shaykh-al Islam
and would spend most of his spare time studying and praying.
Whenever Hadrat Shaykh al-Islam came to Britain, Hafez Arif
with others would plan all their weekends around Hadrat's
itinerary. He was extremely proud and priveliged to go on
stage to pray Naat-e-Rasool in Hadrat's presence.
For just over two years he bravely fought an illness which many
didnt know he had, so considerate of other peoples happiness
was his modesty. Finally when he was bedridden and in discomfort
he spoke with his Shaykh on the phone,he was overcome and
happy. Even during his last hour with his close family praying
around him he had the visit and blessings of Shams al-Ulema
Hadrat Sayyad Mufti Shamsuddoha Ashrafi al-Jilani to help and
comfort him.
Peace at last.

A Poem In Memory of Hafez Arif Ashrafi
Rahimahu Allahu wa nawwara Allahu marqaddahu
Hafiz Arif, our Nephew was he,
A 'Hafiz' so proud he made me,
The Qur'an in his heart, rooted so deep,
A natural affinity, to be a Qari, had he,
Absorbed in the love, of our Nabi,
Registered also, a Na'at Khawan was he,
Saturated in love of, Madinatun Nabi,
Was always planning, a journey with me,
Pious, steadfast in prayers & devotion,
Patience, fear & hope, his balance,
At times was confused, in religious affairs,
But the love of his Murshid, guided him there,
Fitna's he saw, concerned him quite so,
Uncompromising was he, for the Al e Rasul,
His mother & father, meant everything to him,
Such was his planning, for their comfort & ease,
A sister he had, gave him comfort & joy,
Compassion & mercy, never failing to show,
A character of humility, generosity & smiles,
Such an impression, he left behind,
Shared many things, with his Uncle's did he,
So strong was the bond, lost without him we feel,
Excelled, in care & love for the kids,
Adventurous, it made him, to convey love & to please,
Loved by the family, admired by his friends,
A son, a nephew, an uncle & true friend,
Football was his passion, sports his affair,
Energetic & athletic, always eager to declare,
Yet, stop him smiling or making us laugh,
Surely, it would take, more than that,
Endured much, relied on his faith,
Unreservedly patient, concealing pain,
Content with his lord, prepared the soul,
Intention & heart, in Madinah he told,
Vocal surroundings, of dhikr & durud,
Family around him, his fortune & peace,
Just as desired, a Sayyad comes by,
The Sayyad delivers him, as we part goodbye,
The Angels have gathered, this sacred Ramadan night,
A fatal illness, 'Jannah' the reward tonight,
Have no fear for you are absolved
Recite the Qur'an, see your heavenly abode,'
Blessed is the heart, that bears a mountains fear,
The ocean will dry, but his fragrant blood flows,
The Qur'an in the heart, thus says the Hadith,
The fire will not burn him, ten others he'll intercede,
Tis our prayer, on the 'Day', when we all stand,
Our 'Hafiz' comes running, takes us to his side.
