Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam By thinking that you are divorcing your wife does not constitute a divorce until Ghulam Ali expressly states in front of his wife, that I divorce you, I divorce you, I divorce you, at which stage a shar'i divorce will apply. The mere thought of Ghulam Ali is not enough whether he divorces her once, or evn three times in his thought. The Qur'an states: 'at talaqu marratan' 'The divorce is twice, after which he has the opportunity to...(end). At this stage the type of divorce which applies, is that which is express. (oral). Jazak'allah for your question. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
