Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuI hope you are well and in the best of health respected Imam saab. I know of a couple that are in a similar scenario as this questionWhen tallaq is said what actually constitutes as witnesses??? from what I have heard you need men present as witnesses in this instance only women were present. When the tallaqs are said how many men need to be present? if no men are present does the marriage still count in the eyes of sharia'h?? Jazkallah

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam When three talaqs are said by a husband to his wife, then regardless of there being any witnesses, in shar'iyyah 3 talaqs will come into effect. The reason why people have witnesses, is so that they cannot deem either of the couple to be lying, once the three talaqs have been said. However, in shar'i terms regardless of there being any witnesses, if the husband gives his wife 3 talaqs one after another, a divorce will be in effect. Jazak'allah for your question. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
