Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam Where for example, the wife commits such a sin, where she is liable to answer for her husband, and the husband has no other alternative but to get rid of his wife, then in such instances Islam, does allow for the divorce process to take place. With the above situation in mind, the hidayah has made classifications of the types of divorce, which we will look at the first classification, just to see how ruly this subject really is. For the purposes of divorce, then these are of three kinds. The hasan (proper), the ahsan (more appropriate), and bid'i (innovative not conforming to the sunnah). The ahsan form of divorce is that a man divorces a woman with a single repudiation pronounced during her period of purity from menstruation ( tuhr) during which he has not had intercourse with her. He then leaves her alone, until she completes her waiting period ( iddah). The hasan form which is called the talaq-al-Sunnah, is that a woman whose marriage has been consummated be divorced with three repudiations pronounced in three periods of purity. The talaq-al-Bid'ah (innovation conflicting with the sunnah) is that he divorce her with three repudiations pronounced in a single statement, or three repudiations in a single period of purity. If he does this the divorce takes effect, but he has sinned. As you can see the talaq hasan and ahsan are the only two ways of giving talaq in which there is no sin. The person has to however wait until the woman has finished her menstruation before he can make a second repudiation of divorce. The talaq-al-bid'ah is the only form of divorce where the three repudiations are pronounced in a single statement, in a single period of purity. This is sinful, and is probably the most disliked of acts in the eyes of Allah the Almighty. This is the divorce that you had referred to in your question, although it should not be made in that way, it is also a sin to adopt this method of divorce. Jazak'allah for your question.
