Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
dear Imam sahib could you please explain in a bit of detail what one should do when a new baby is born and like the azan, tahneek, and other farz acts.
i am expecting and would really appreciate the answer as i'm sure many other parents would.
also do you need to give the baby ghusl before the azan? as my sons were just wiped down and then my husband gave the azan.
also what are the different things for boys and girls.
Jazakallah Khair for answering this question and i hope you and your family are always in the best of health and may Allah grant your whole nassal Jannah. Ameen.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam None of them are fard acts, as most of them are sunnah. The act of recitation of the adhan has already been stated in the following link: ashraf786.proboards15.com/index.cgi?board=misc&action=display&thread=1193512800 The tahnik however is quiet simple. Any sweet substance, normally a date, chewed by either one of you, can be given into the babies mouth. On the seventh day, the baby's head should be shaved, and sadaqah should be given according to the weight of the hair. It is also sunnah to make 'aqiqah on the seventh day, by giving a male for a boy, and a female for the girl. This is then to be distributed amongst the poor. Khatna (circumcision) should also be done. To seek professional advice, see any Muslim G.P. who will give you all the correct details of how this is performed. This should be done at the earliest opportunity if possible, and after the ' aqiqah, as this is also a sunnah of the Beloved Messenger Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam. However, this only applies to boys, and not girls. Jazak'allah for your question. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi Reason for Editing: edit; grammar
