Assalamu 'Alaykum Imam sahib,
Gays are big sinners in islam but what if someone we knew suddenly announced that he was gay, how should we as muslims treat this person, should we help them, leave them alone, or ignore them. I know someone who feels sorry for them, but isnt this attitutde wrong because we are then encouraging the person who does this bara ghunah ?

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu All Praise be to Allah who is the Most Gracious and Merciful, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam)Jazak'Allah for your valued question. Such are times that gay people, are a people that have enjoined, and have become recognisable in society. Prior to this, there had been the existence of gay people, yet there was no recognition of them. The Qur'an al kareem also speaks of passed nations (Ad, Hud), who had committed bad acts such as indulging themselves in homosexual acts, and Allah the Almighty had sent down various punishments upon them, so that heed may be given to others. In summary, gays are not part of the Islamic culture, and the religion of Islam condemns all forms of gay activity. This is based on passed people in time, who had not given consideration to their purpose of being, and the abuse of rules that had been sent down by Prophets and Messengers. Their example is even in force today, declaring that which is non purposeful, to that which is purposeful, and similar guidelines have been given for those who also commit fornication. May Allah the Almighty keep us all firm upon the Straight Path, and may He prevent us from any actions which He dislikes. (Amin).Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM/ Waseem Ashrafi
