Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved and Final Messenger, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa, (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) Jazak'Allah for your valued question. Both obstetrics, and gynaecology are medical areas in which the human is helped, by way of medicine. Although there may be certain areas of obstetrics, which would be disallowed in Islam, nevertheless, there is nothing in Islam which says that it is forbidden to study on the medicine, or on the surgery which deals with childbirth, so long as it conforms with the 'Shar'iyyah'. Anything, in contavention to the 'Shar'iyyah' would be disallowed, and impermissable. Similarly, there is nothing that prevents in Islam, the science of the physiological functions, and deseases of women. If there was a prevention, then it would have affected a great part of medicine and science. Because throughout time, Islam had developed remedies for most illnesses, both for men and women, it is essential that the Muslims again begin to realise their potential of becoming doctors, professors, and teachers. They need to become educated, they need to practice their theories, and they need to make a name for themselves, so that the Muslims are no longer regarded, as a lost, or uneducated nation. There is a great need for Muslims to be educated both in worldly sciences, and religious sciences. It is only then that one may begin to realise, that that which was once posessed by the Muslims, has now transferred to the non Muslims. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
