Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
i have a i think silly question but it's one that i need the answer to as i don't believe there is anything wrong with this.
the question is, is there anything wrong with giving fatiha on mithai bought from a hindu shop? i do it all the time and i see nothing wrong with it as it's just food and by giving fatiha on it i would have thought you are making it purer.
but a cousin of mine says you shouldn't as you don't know what they have done with it or how they have prepared it.
as we buy most of our food at non-muslim shops i.e. tesco, sainsburys and so on i don't see the difference in eating bread made in a non-muslim shop and giving fatiha on mithai that is from a non-muslim shop.
please do clarify this for me as i'm slightly confused and would really appreciate the answer to this.
i eagerly await your informed advice and pray that you are in the best of health at all times. Ameen.
Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam Yes you may give Fatihah on Mitha'i as long as it is not contaminated with anything impure. Halal food is ja'iz to have fatihah read on, but it is best to buy food from Muslim shops. Jazak'allah for your question. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
