asSalaamu alaikum, there was an old lady in our neighbour who was on complete bedrest since 2-3 months.when i visited her for the first time, for reciting surah yaseen for her along with other ladies, i felt that her time is over. after most of the other ladies were gone i sat beside that old lady, took her right hand in my hand, and recited sayyed ul astaghfaar atleast 3 times and i asked Allaah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala to accept this dua as if this old lady is asking herself for the forgiveness. (as she was not even in a state to understand what is going on around her). while doing all this for her tears started flowing from my eyes.........then i left her......... after the above incident..... within 1-2 hour she died there at the very place i left her. when i heard the news of her death i felt happy instead of feeling sad........ due to my heart testified that she was in amaan then.......alhamdullillaah this was the night between 6th and 7th muharram of this year. i want to ask if the sayyed ul astaghfaar is accepted by Allaah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala if recited by someone else on behalf of the person who is at the last stage and not in a condition to understand anything at all? ? since Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam said whoever recites sayyed ul astaghfaar and then dies wil be one among the paradise dwellers.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam That is correct. Anything which is recited for a person, who is either alive, has died, or will be born, is accepted by Allah the Almighty, and presented to them, when you ask for it to be presented. This is proven from numerous verses of the Qur'an. One example is: 'Rabanagh fir li wali walidayyah, wa lil mu'minina yawma yaqumul hisab'
'Oh Allah, forgive me, and my parents, and all the Muslims, until Judgement Day.Here there is no stipulation, as to whether the parents of a person are dead or alive. However, by reciting this du'a, Allah the Almighty accepts the prayer as He says: 'ud'uni astajib lakum'
'Ask from me and I will grant it'So there is no lessening in His mercy, He grants to whom He wills, by whoevers request, as long as they have iman, and can present it wherever He wishes, as long as the request has been made. Jazak'allah for your question. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
