Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam Kunday are ja'iz, so long as all those conditions are met which were referred to in the previous post, which was relating to Ghiyarwin Sharif, this is also similar, except the personality in question is different. There it was Ghawth al-A'zam Shaykh Abdal-Qadir al-Jilani Radi Allahu anhu, and here it is Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq Radi Allahu anhu. Kunday is a name for a khatm, which people refer to in any Pakistan, but people overseas, may call it a different name, although the purpose is the same. Even in this one ( khatm Sharif), the activities are the same, for example, Qur'an recitation, Na'at sharif, manqabat, salat-o-salam, speech, lecture, and food. These are all ja'iz, which all have proof, provided no objection, doubt, criticism, or neglect is raised. This is the basic practice of kunday ni'az. For more information, please do some research. Jazak'allah for your question. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
