As salaam alaikum,
I have a book named Tafsir by Ibn kathir, which is actually the transliteration of Quran. It is considered to be a very authentic book but When i posted about this book here, people stated that this book is considered to be corrupted. Can you please give me some insight of this matter ? I shall be waiting for your reply.
Wasalaam.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam The tafsir book that you have mentioned is not a transliteration but an exegisis (tafsir) of the Qur'an. It is an authentic tafsir, which is studied by scholars of the ahl-as-Sunnah. There is no complications regarding this tafsir. In relation to it's background, it is regarded as the 'tafsir Qur'an al 'azim' by Hafiz Imad ud Din abul Fida' Isma'il bin Khatib (705-774h). It contains nearly all the authentic narrations in relation to the Companions of the Beloved Messenger Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, and their Companions (tabi'in). In the narration of the ahadith, particular care has been taken in relation to the lineage (sanad), and the authenticity (sehat) of the ahadith. In the event of conflicting principles in fiqh, then all four madhahib have been quoted in detail, and preference has not been given to a particular madh'hab. The text is simple, yet intriguing. It is reguarded as a current (mutadawal) tafsir, according to the ahl-as-Sunnah wal Jama'ah. It has been published and printed numerous times. It is normally presented in 9 volumes. However, a translation of it in Urdu has also been made and attributed to Hadrat Pir Muhammad Karam Shah Saheb Rahmatullahi ’alayh of Bhera Sharif, as a copy is still available. Since this tafsir has had many versions, some of the versions have been either fabricated, corrupted, or ammended, according to the publishers own means. This has lead to great controversy regarding this tafsir, and has lead to people in believing that the tafsir is unreliable. This is correct for those people who have studied those versions, but as far as the original tafsir itself is concerned, then it is far from being corrupt or fabricated. As far as other people making posts about this book, and making allegations against it, then evidence must be sought as to where they have sighted this. That includes the publisher, the printers, and the date of publication. Jazak'allah for your question. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
