Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
I hope you are well respected Imam Saahib.
I have read that when you take bay'ah with a Shaykh, it is like a marriage, therefore to show ones love and dedication to his or her Shaykh, can you renew your bay'ah with your Shaykh?
If so, is there a particular term used by renewing your bay'ah and do they carry the same benefits when you initially took bay'ah or any additional benefits?
Jazakallah

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam Bay'ah is not like a marriage but is like selling your soul to the guide who guides it. He is your pir, he is your shaykh, and it is by his excellence, and by his mercy, that he shows you the path to which you become affiliated to. To show your love and dedication is to show your love, and dedication to Allah the Almighty, and in reality this is renewed day in and day out, by perofrming the 5 times salah, and fulfilling all the commands of Allah the Almighty, and by testyifying that there is only one God, and by believing that the Last Messenger of Allah the Almighty is the Beloved Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, by being firm in ones belief, relating to all the Prophets, angels, books, Life after death, and in the Day of Judgement, and not by changing ones belief, doubting or denying any of the Prophets Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, not forgetting his angels, and by not being disrespectful, or doubtful. This bay'ah can be renewed to the same shaykh, as many times as possible, providing the above conditions are met. If in doubt relting to any of the above issues, please post again. Jazak'allah for your question. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
