Applying Mendhi (Henna) to Feet

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

I hope you are in good health dear Imam Sahib.

I would like to know if it is acceptable to apply mendhi to the feet.

I was always told by elders that our Nabiji Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam applied mendhi to his beard. Therefore it is disrespectful to apply the same thing to our feet.

Could you comment on this idea?

All Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam


It is permissible to use mehndi on the feet, as mehndi has many benefits, as well as it being a sunnah [tradition] of the Beloved Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam.


Some people apply mehndi to the feet, because of bad feet, but this does not necessarily mean any disrespect to the sunnah, of applying it to the beard.
