Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Some Pirs/Shuyukh keep a low profile. For example, they don't want their photo to displayed on the internet. What I'm interested in is why do some Pirs and Shuyukh choose to keep a low profile? Is it modesty? If so, does that mean that those Pirs and Shuyukh who do allow such - let's say a website dedicated to them - aren't modest? What are the motives?

I would say modesty reasons but I have seen many that go over the top to get their pictures or names in the paper this is not always Peer sahibs but imams/scholars.

i think it's a personality thing aswell as a modesty thing. some people just don't like all the attention that you get from publicity and can't handle that kind of pressure. whereas others just take it in their stride so i think that it's just a matter of personal preferences.

ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa SallamKeeping a low profile I too would say it is a sign of modesty, simplicity I do not find anything wrong with high profile either! Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Wassalamu 'alaykum Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuI think theres big differences, and i mean really big differences in the levels of taqwa of our imams and pir sahibs. One of the big differences ive noticed is that no self respecting shaykh or pir is interested in advertising himself on the internet, its only murids of the pirs who run websites about their shaykhs. Anyway i dont know of any sunni jammat that doesnt allow photos or have a website, in fact many have come full circle after hopelessly trying to refute Shaykh-ul-Islams famous fatwa about using tv and video for the purpose of dawah.

Even if his followers do it for his love he dont stop em, in fact he goes and has his photo and poses. Theres also birthday bashes and cakes being cut for him, bit thats another thread.
