Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam It is true for the Hanafi Madh'hab, and those who follow it, that they do not perform salah-tul-Janazah which is gha'ibana, but they actually pray it, when the deceased is present in the coffin, in front of them. This is how Hanafi fiqh stipulates it, to be. If you are Hanafi, then follow this procedure and you will be fine. The salah which had been prayed by the Beloved Messenger Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, which was ghai'bana, was later abrogated (mansukh) by Himself, and that is what the Hanafis follow. This prevents us from following earlier citations in ahadith-e-mubarikah, which others thing is appropriate to follow. This also applies to pious people, whoever they are, wherever they are, if they are Hanafi, then it applies to them as well. If you are from the Hanafi Madh'hab, then you should prevent praying it, and only pray the janazah salah, which is present in front of you. Jazak'allah for your question. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
