Assalamu alaikum,
If eid falls on a friday does one (males) have a choice to pray eid prayer or jumma (friday) prayer but not both i.e one of the prayers is sufficent ?
Also is the eid prayer a compulsery prayer for males whenever it occurs as i have heard that it is sunnah but not fardh?

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam If eid day falls on a Friday, then both the Eid prayer, and the Jummah prayer are fard, upon that person who is of mature age, who is not insane, and who is stationary in a particular town/city. There is no choice as to whether he can pray one or the other, as both salahs i.e. The Jummah and the Eid prayer are fard. The two eid prayers are wajib to pray, meaning they are as close to fard, as one could imagine. To neglect any of these salahs, is misguidance, and innovation (bid'ah), as it has always remained a wajib act (necessary) to perform these prayers. Jazak'allah for your question.
