Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
a question which i think will be beneficial to all fasting sisters.
what do you do if during your fast you start your hayd? does it invalidate the fast? do you have to carry on as if you are fasting or should you eat something?
also many women say that if you start your hayd after zohr then your fast is still valid is this true or not?
Jazkallah Khair for answering.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam Hayd whilst fasing invalidates the fast. But this does not mean that the sister 'openly' eats, and does all those things which would otherwise have been allowed, had she not been fasting. Care must be taken in this instance. Nor should she announce that she is not fasting, as she should protect her dignity by not doing so. The fasts that she would have performed had she not been in a state of hayd, will have to be made up at a later date. These are known as qadha' fasts. Alternatively, this procedure of qadha' is not to be applied to that of salah, for those women who meet their menstruating period. Jazak'allah for your question. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM.
