assalamu alaikum,
If one is praying 4 rakats and by mistake gets up in standing position for a fifth rakat what should be done?
Should one complete a fifth rakat and perform sijdah sahv or should one immediately go into sitting position when one realises the mistake (i.e from standing in fifth rakat to tashadud at end of prayer like one does at end of 4th rakat) and then perform sijdah sahv?

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam If you mistakenly add a rakah in a 4 rakah salah and have gone into the fifth, then you should continue to make it 6, complete 6 rakahs, and then perform sajdah-e-sahv. The 2 extra will be taken down as nafil, and you will reward from the 4 rakah salah, and the 2 nafil, without any loss. Jazak'allah for your question. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
