As sister Hajra and Hafiz Adam have rightly stated about cheese.
If non animal rennet is used then the cheese is suitable.
Many cheese do contain animal rennet, so go for one that states suitable for vegetarians or even Halal logo on them, majority of the top supermarkets do sell cheese that is suitable for us Muslims.

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
most cheeses contain rennet so we must always be careful. This is from the stomach of dead animals.
Also non rennet cheeses are made from fungus or bacteria. The healthy variety of bacteria.

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuRennet from animals(apart from pigs) is allowed to be used by Abu Hanifa Radi Allahu anha in cheese making process, due to rennet being a lifeless thing in the stomachs of these animals(calfs etc) and not part of the animals life system. Therefore according to the imam if the animal was not even killed the halaal way(zabiha) any rennet taken from its stomach could be used to make cheese. However his two senior most students said it is not allowed due to the chance of it being in contact with impure products in the stomach of the animal(although not mixing as rennet is a solid thing). Therefore although its allowed to be consumed in hanafi school is best not to for taqwa purposes. The other 3 imams of madhabs dont allow rennet from non halal way slaughtered animals. Hmm,didnt know that did ya?

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuSister it's a well-known fact that cheese does contain fat. Among other ingredients, cheese suitable for vegetarians contains non-animal rennet. Assalam O Alaikum Cheese making in western countries is not simple. Many Muslims think the rennet is the only criteria to decide its Halal status. There few things which has to be Halal in making Halal cheese. 1. Starter Culture bacteria(Halal if obtained from milk, Haram if obtained from pork). These bacteria provide flavor and texture to cheese 2. The media to grow starter culture bacteria in millions. If milk is used as media then it is Halal. But most cheese companies use whey(may be Halal or Haram), lactose(may be Halal or Haram), yeast extract(by-product of beer making) to provide nutrition to bacteria to multiply in millions. 3. Rennet enzyme is added to milk to curd the milk, It is Halal only if it is a microbial. Haram if it is from pork. Not Halal if it is from non zabiha cow. 4. Lipase Enzyme: Halal only if it is microbial. It split the fat of milk. Haram if it is from pork. There are other ingredients which are used in special cheese. It is written under Ingredients section of our websites www.muslimconsumergroup.com and www.canadianhalalfoods.com. Veggi organiztions may look only the rennet but not other Halal requirements. Paneer is made without rennet and bacteria in India. The milk is curd with lemon or lime juice, the whey is drained, the curd is either eat fresh or fried with Paalak Sabzi. In US Kosher certified cheese is avaialble in New York city's supermarkets and some in New England. But in other cities you have to get from Kosher food stores. This kosher cheese meets the Halal requirements. Since kosher cheese rarley available in UK supermarkets, you have to call or write to cheese companies in UK and asked the above questions if they meet the Halal requirements then you can consume. There are two kind of cheese Cream Cheese and Ricotta cheese which do not use the rennet but they have to meet the above Halal requirements. You can also tried at Kosher food stores in UK.
