Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
someone arging with me that reading quran for the Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam is only sawaab for you because the Prohet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam dont need quran as they were perfect and werent ganaghaar. so it is better to read for someone else as you can send esaale e sawaab on them and this will help them.
so is this person saying good or bad?

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam Well that is wrong. The Beloved Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam was that personality which the Qur'an was bestowed upon. Since they have left this world, amongst other Prophets (physically), then the reward must also be presented to them. Other reasons include: The Qur'an being revealed to Him Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam; He Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam making reward for His community (ummah), therfore us making reward for He Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam; He Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam reciting the Qur'an, therefore we recite for He Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam; and finally, we being from His community have a right to send the reward to the Beloved Messenger Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, as a token of thanksgiving; We also have to send it to He Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam first, so that it can then be presented to everybody else. Jazak'allah for your question. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
